All gays and lesbians should stop shopping at lowell market. My daughter was there last weekend with her girlfriend, during this particular weekend she spent around 85ems dollars at that business. She was outside holding hands with her girlfriend when she was approached my maryann, the owner. She was asked to move away from her store because she did not believe in their way of life. That type of discrimination is illegal. I am currently filing discrimination charges against this woman and her business. Maryann if you read this i hope you liked the hundred to three hundred dollars a month she spent there, because there will be no more. If i can get the gay and lesbian foundation of west virginia to come here from Charleston we will be picketing your store. You are a sorry excuse for a store owner. Discrimination is Illegal, and you have discriminated on the grounds of sexualities!!!

Good luck to you Mother of a lesbian. I'm not gay or lesbian, but I'll support you in your fight against discrimination. No more Lowell Market for me.

BTW, getting proof on video or even just audio would help your cause and lawsuit. Probably not your daughter, since she'd be able to figure out who she is if she reads this.
If several gay or lesbian couples went in, browsed for a while, made it obvious without breaking any indecency laws that they were homosexuals, bought the minimum they could to avoid loitering laws, it seems there would be a greater chance of getting this discrimination recorded.

We as AMERICANS have a rite to express ourselves,if ur daughter has the need to express her sexuality in public maybe u should educate her on others have the RITE not to wanna accept lifestyles of others.I'm sure the owner isn't the only person ur daughter has come in contact with that didn't approve of her sexuality,so I see u r probably just after fast money ,I hope u take that money and buy your daughter a good MAN

Well, there's a difference in not believing it's right, and discriminating against others because they do think it's OK, as a Christian and legally as a store owner.
It is no more right than when unmarried women on their own were discriminated against, or people of color, or inter-racial couples.
Personally, I love most everyone. Some men turn me on-no woman has ever turned me on. That's just how my mind and body work. But I would never dare to force my sexual preference on someone else, or discriminate against someone else because of their sexual preference.

Some people that call themselves Christians are so fickle. I bet Lowell Market sells beer to drunkards but you are saying Lesbians aren't welcome based on the Bible. Took the girl's money and kept it before they ran her off? I sincerely believe that if Jesus Christ appeared on the earth right now, He would say to lots of "Christians", something along the lines of "Depart from me, I never knew you."

As Americans everyone has the right to express their opinion, unless it infringes upon the rights of others, incites a mass riot, etc.
This woman's daughter had every right to hold her girlfriend's hand in pulic, hetero couples do it freely all the time. There is no law that says homosexual couples can't hold hands in public. There is also no law that says this store owner has to accept a customer's sexuality. But there are laws that say this store owner can not discriminate against her because of her sexuality.
Bottom line is law. If the owner hasn't made a man and woman couple leave because they were holding hands, it is against the law for her to do so to a same sex couple.

Didn't Jesus drink wine? I don't remember the part in the bible where he was having gay sex.

First, let me say that my daughter is sixteen years old. Two, i do not want a fast buck nor do i need it. Three, i have went to church most of my life and my daughter still attends faithfully. I do not agree with the lifestyle she has chosen, but i will not turn my back on my child, i would hope that no mother would just because of there sexual preference. As parents we do not always agree with what our children do, but we must love them and pray that we have raised them well enough that they make good decisions. No one has a right to judge anyone else only God has that right. All of you so called christians who are on here downing her do not even know her, she is a hard worker she works 40 hrs a wk, she takes care of her sibling and keeps good grades. The fact that she has decided to be a lesbian is between she and God. Not you, the owner of lowell market or anyone else. She still has a right to be treated with respect and decency. You who are on here claiming to be Christians and agreeing with this owner are hypocrites and God will see you on judgement day not just her.

What should a Summers Co jury in a lawsuit have to say about this? As the defendents, they would have the right to request a jury.
