Samantha don't say that someone stole your rings. You carelessly left your rings-so don't try to blame anyone but yourself.

I believe you are mistaken in giving such advice as that. Whether she carelessly forgot them or not, upon her return to retrieve her items she found they had been moved. She has every right to blame someone and she might want to start looking at you since you played such an ignorant blameless game. Whomever picked the rings up, did they take them to the office? Did whomever go to the office and report they had found 2 rings?
I don't know how parents are raising their hellions these days, but it is surely not to be honest, which surely leads to jail somewhere down the road or continuous thievary from those that struggle to have nice things. And one more thing, how can you blame her for losing the rings when all she wanted to do was wash her hands as we all should...unbelievable.
I wish her the best of luck in getting the rings back, but on a sad note to Samantha, my sister had turned around and ask a girl to hold her ring and the girl denied accepting the ring to hold (a Black Hills 2 tone gold ring with a small diamond) and the school supported the girl that stole the ring and she kept it. I hope her children doesn't reap what she put out towards others. GOOD LUCK

agreed "I think not"

We're all forgetful at times and we certainly all make mistakes - but that doesn't give the right to, or justify, someone taking what doesn't belong to them.

It's pretty obvious that "advice" only wanted to rub her nose in it and be a jerk. I hope that your words come back to haunt you some day and you'll be in a similar situation as this young lady has found herself in, and you'll remember your callousness.

So if I keep anything I find laying around then it is not considered stealing, man, you don't have any morals or consideration for your fellow person, those rings were hers and whomever found them should of turned them in, not put them in their pocket. Would you think you was just careless if it happened to you. They were her Christmas presents and she should have them back regardless of if they was left laying around or whatever. Who ever has them is a thief, plain and simple

I do hope you do not lay anything down, your advice could bit you in the a**. If you keep it and it is not yours than you are STEALING and if you know something about it & not telling you are not to be trusted & a low down person. Those rings should had been turned into the lost & found.

Again simply because someone forgets their property somewhere doesn't mean that it gives someone else the "right" to take it.
Morally and legally the blame belongs on the person/s who pocketed them and someday, somewhere down the line it'll rear up and bite them in the butt -- just as what you've said here will.

I too think that the person that found Samantha's rings should return them-I also think that if Samantha had been more careful-she would still have her rings. Also, if you notice-someone is already posting names of people they think took the rings-unless they know for sure-they need to stop putting peoples names on this site.

Okay, so Samantha has learned a lesson. NOW the person who HAS the rings SHOULD do the RIGHT thing and turn them in or give them to Samantha. WHY is this going on & on. JUST GIVE THE RINGS BACK! Is it that hard to understand; they DO NOT belong to YOU, their SAMANTHA's. I am so glad my child is gown and knows right from wrong; I would hate to have a child that would keep something that did not belong to them. Parents, you need to teach your child how to be honest.

Don't insult this girl when you're barely functioning yourself. You're hardly better.

I take my hat off to the person that dropped those names, at least it will give the State or County Police a place to start. For you to make such a negative comment says in just a few words that you could possibly be a career thief yourself. Just what have you stolen that people had forgotten and left laying around? I still believe they should start with you. This girl is a teenager and she is not perfect, but, I fault her only because she trusted her schoolmates to be honest and now she will have to chalk it up to a lesson learned. By the way, did I understand that the rings were left in the girls bathroom after washing her hands? Then, I believe, I would go around asking teachers which female students were out of the classroom at that time or I would be looking at a lot of fingers until I graduated. As for the Carr girl, I would certainly find out who the parents are and go from there and check the pawn shops.

why don't the person whom has the rings just turn them into the lost and found, that way no one knows who they were and she gets her rings back?

that makes a lot of sense; but I have a feeling whoever took them has none (sense). I would say if the rings are returned very soon, nothing should be done to the person could took them. BUT if not returned soon, that person should be charged for the crime! This whole thing really bothers me, too think these young people will be in the work force soon and we will not be able to trust them. Very very sad.

I agree! But if they don't I would push forward and ask around and then file whatever charges I could. A thief is a thief and you also right about them getting out there within the work force.

It is so sad that someone with this limited writing ability is in high school.
