I think it's really funny that maybe 4 people are out in this town. Why so shy?

Oh I think there are more than 4 people that are out in this town. I for one. And my partner for another. You know....It doesn't realy matter. Just because you don't hear of us, doesnt mean we arent out.

It wasn't intended to be insulting. It's more or less that there doesn't seem to be any sort of support network. I mean, I've lived here forever, and I only know like one or two other gay guys in the area.

No amount of liberal bull $hit will ever make a freak of nature O.K. any man that can get aroused by a hairy poop shoot needs to be put out of there misery. With no great lose to society.

haha. Well, straightup, I don't feel it would be a terrible loss to society to lose someone that says stuff like "great lose to society."

We're people just as much as the next, and what goes on in our private lives, whom we love, will never come under fire from people like you. I think you'll find that most of us are strong-willed individuals that've been dealing with words like yours since we were 14. It's an old argument...

Besides, it shouldn't bother you what other people like. It's not like we're trying to fuck you.

I don't understand why you start a topic on this particular thing. You know that starting this will automatically start gay-bashing, especially on the HINTON, WEST VIRGINIA topix site. People that live there are not capable of understanding this type of thing.

Heh. Well, I expected the ignorance. It's more or less that I don't know anyone here, and it would be nice to have at least a few gay friends to hang out with. Everyone needs to feel accepted from time to time.

I'll start off by saying, I'm not fond of homosexuals or what they do, but its also none of my business. To each his own I say.

BUT... You state in your reply, it shouldn't bother you what other people like.

Well, it doesn't bother me what other people like. What bothers me is that gay folks seem to feel like everyone MUST know they are gay. Announce it, come out, do things in public just for the reaction from people that you KNOW, aren't supportive of what you do.

I might like doing drugs, and feel like that's completely ok. I'm not harming others, right? But, I don't head to the mall and start shooting up in the food court. While I realize drugs are illegal, and loving someone of the same sex isn't, I hope you see where I'm going with it.

Its like going to a land that worships cows while eating hamburgers. Its accepted that people in the world like eating cow, but you don't head to somewhere than doesn't, and put it in their face.

I'm not saying you should hide it, I just think what people do in private, should stay private, and not be announced or shown just because you do it.

I don't go around starting topics looking for other hetrosexuals, or go march in a hetro parade... why should hetrosexuals be forced to watch or hear from gay people?

Also, its not ignorance when someone disagrees with what you do. This whole state is an old style, christian state. The churches have all preached that homosexuality is wrong in God's eyes, so you are going to get the kind of reaction you are getting here, no matter how you approach the topic.

I'm not saying you have to like it. Fortunately, in this country, we have a seperation of church and state, so the church doesn't get to make law like it used to. There is certainly a difference between doing something illegal in public, and showing affection for ANYONE.

I'm not one of those people that walks around kissing on a boyfriend just to piss people off. I actually don't know anyone that does. If you're kissing the person you're with, it's to show that you like them, not to illicet a response from someone watching. On the topic of "forcing" you to watch or hear from us, you have the ability to look away, you have the ability to not listen... I surely don't think anyone has tied you up in public, and forced you to watch/hear anything. It's simple: You don't like something, don't look.

I have no issues with people that don't agree with homosexuality. My issues come with those people that tell me I'm a lesser person for it. The same as you don't want to watch me kissing my boyfriend, I don't want to watch you kissing your girlfriend/boyfriend in public. I don't think you'd say you were kissing them to make someone watching uncomfortable, so why would you assume we do the same thing? Being gay doesn't define me and, I'd imagine, being straight doesn't define you.

All in all, if you don't like my lifestyle, no one's forcing you be in my life. I think this community, every community, needs to take care of it's members. Homosexuals have the highest suicide rates in the country because (typically as young adults/teenagers) they feel like the whole world is against them. If me extending a hand in friendship can stop even ONE of those people from feeling alone, it would be worth all the crap I've taken over it in my entire life.

I read this topic yesteday and was curious what was to come. I'm from Hinton, but don't live there now, left because it was too repressive and moved to a big city where being gay was not a big deal. I have to comment on Well's comments. First of all, I'd probably respect Well more if he or she came out and stated her dislike in a forthright manner without all the politically correct disclaimers (...I don't like homosexuals but it's also none of my business). Just like every other bias, you can't really make a stand until you've had a personal experience with "that" situation. Most people have at least one gay member in their family and they base their attitude towards gays on the way they feel about that family member. Also, I too don't know anyone stupid enough to be publicly affectionate with someone of the same sex in WV. Never done it and never seen it. Lastly, implying that WV is a conservative state and therefore gays should know better than to live there is absurd. I for one, don't care what a bunch of uneducated backwoods preachers say about anything. The reason gay people do parades and gather at bars is because the whole world is set up to cater to straight people and we just want to have a little pride in ourselves and be around people like us. Having to constantly react to other people's hate can bring you down and make you defensive. 99 percent of the gay people I know lead the exact same lifestyle as anyone else. We work, we go to the grocery store, we pay bills, we pay taxes, we watch tv and we sleep. I have the same lifestyle as my 61 year old mother and my two brothers. So hang in there Out and About, I know plenty of gay people in Hinton and would be glad to introduce you to my friends. I'll also be coming home for Thanksgiving so I expect a big gay parade in downtown Hinton. Peace Yo.

MOst of us that are gay, don't flutter about like some fairy. I for one am a little bit conservative about my sexuality. If you know me, then I might tell you, then again I might not. It depends on the person. There are many people in this town that are caring and kind to my partner and I. I don't push it in peoples face, by kissing out in public or holding hands. Hell, I have a hard time holding hands with my partner while we are in the car, because I believe I still might offend someone. That is the main thing. Not being ofensive. I try to be the regular guy next door. I can fix anything, And I can keep a clean house. It seems to me, as a gay man, I strive to be better than my straight counterparts. I strive to help others when I can, in just about any way I can. And I hope as a gay man, that I can encourage straight men to be a better man to themsevles and there wives and children. I don't want to "CONVERT" anybody. I am not out to do anything like that. All I care to do in my life is be a btter person. AS WE ALL SHOULD.

Heh. No idea who you are good grief, but drama wasn't the point. It's not my fault no one in this community ever tries to make anyone else feel accepted.

To out: None of us have some horrible 'agenda' as everyone likes to say. We're all just trying to live our lives. I'm not attempting to out anyone, or even cause any more issues for anyone. Being gay doesn't define me, but I do enjoy having a community in which I don't have to hide who I am. I'm not as "considerate" as I'm sure you'd call it, as to not hold my partners hand in my car or in public. If someone doesn't like me being affectionate, they don't have to look.

the Bible tells of Adam & Eve with the forbidden fruit. it never said Adam & Steve, nor did it replace forbidden fruit with peanut butter. Can you say you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ when you go against the Holy Bible to get constipated? Prove Me Wrong!

Proven: Seperation of church and state, and no, I'm not christian.

Good Grief: I still have no idea what you're talking about. I don't recall pulling anything with anyone's girlfriend. You'll have to forgive me, but it's been a long while since I've even lived in this half of the state. Elaborate?
