It really seems bizarre to me that the IRS can have you arrested for not reporting money obtained illegally... like, wouldn't that be blocked by the self-incrimination defense?

I know, I know, I'm all for putting criminals in jail for obtaining money illegally but seems kind of shitty to also charge them for false tax returns if they don't report the money to the IRS (it's like getting punished twice for the same crime).
