I had occasion to spend time at Mike Reed Chevrolet while searching for a pickup. My salesman was a newbie, but pleasant and pretty well informed about cars. We were unable to make a deal on my first visit, which didn't surprise me. What did surprise me is that the owner came out to greet me, was very friendly, and offered to help in any way he could. Today the salesman called me back, accepting the offer I had made. I went over, and because they were busy, was put into a side room to wait. That was fine, until one of the finance mgrs named Stanley came in and was obviously upset that I was in that room. He told me customers were'nt allowed in that room, even though the salesman put me there. He told me to leave. Stanley continued to harass me as I left and made sure I understood he was in charge of the situation. He told me there were private things in the room's closet--like I was going to ransack the place. He kept it up, until I finally told him sternly to "Chill Out, I'm not a damn terrorist." He finally backed off, but the man has a real control issue--I found him rude, over-reactive, patronizing, and just plain inappropriate. I did get the pickup purchased, but it was not an enjoyable experience. If they would ship Stanley out of town, I would certainly consider going back.

Our family has purchsed from this dealership on many occasions. Mike Reed has always been there for us. I guess the other two guys were both having a bad day on the same day. Everyone in Hinesville is thrilled that Mike bought the dealership.

It sounds like the situation could have been handled better by Tom and Stan. Most consumers are not aware of the strict government regulations regarding the protection of customer information.

Mike Reed is a great guy. I really admire a guy with the guts to take on a major business venture like an automobile dealership. I guess anyone can have a less-than-great experience anywhere at one time or another. I have know Mike for a long time. I wouldn't let "one bad apple" spoil the whole deal.

And how would you suggest that I (Tom) could have better handled the situation. I left the room when I was told to, and moved to the showroom where the "onslaught" continued. Let's remember that I was the customer here. I have no problem with Mike Reed, and indicated that I was pleasantly surprised at his friendly and outgoing demeanor. This "Stanley" was not satisfied until he had assigned me a chair and kept an eye on me. I am an older, professional man, who has not been treated with such disregard in many years.

I can remember a time when we all left our houses unlocked and the keys in the car. I guess those days are gone. Maybe "Stanley" was a victim in the past and over reacted to your presence. I have been told that there are 3 sides to every story. Why not just let it go?

I guess you're right and intend to do that. It's just sometimes you get tired of letting things go--things that are just "wrong", things that you were raised to never do, things that are aqainst all the values you learned. I guess every generation, as it ages, feels this same way.

If you write everything off, where are the voices to preserve civility and respect in society?

Like Don Quixote, I'm probably just chasing windmills.

Hey Tom dont let these guys bug you they work at the dealership. Stanley Bryant is well known in Hinesville he always acts like he is the boss and does you a favor if he talks to you. Mike is too nice a guy to get rid of him but you are not the first to have trouble with him

I recently bought a car at Mike Reed Chevrolet and have had nothing but problems so far. My car has been in the shop 4x in less than 3 months and I am totally unsatisfied with the service that I am getting. Sonny in the shop has helped me as much as possible on his end but it just seems like the work that has been done on my car should have been done before I bought it (During the inspection) such as rusty roters and things of that nature. I spoke with the owner and he told me that all of my problems were not apparent at the time the car was sold, but I find it hard to believe that all of these issues such as a broken trunk switch, a bad battery, rusty roters and front end noise all just happen within 3 months and it's considered "basic maint." If things get taken care of the way they need to be then I will be happy, and will consider telling friends about this place, and if it goes the other way then this dealership will lose my business as well as many other customers that we know.

I have purchased all of my cars from these folks. They have always given great service. I know the owner and he will not sit on your complaint. He will have the service manager involved.

Terry- I talked to Mike himself earlier today and he actually did call me back in a timely manner and said that he would help me and he also emailed the service manager and I also got a call from him as well, so things are looking up and hopefully I will be able to recommend this dealership to others. I really do hate being rude or anything but sometimes you just have to sit on people's necks to get anything done lol. But thanks for your input :)

Ok, so I took my car to another dealership and found out that I have 800.00 worth of damage that Mike Reed, Sonny and Doug Hampshire as well as all of the techs obviously could not find. My car has been into their shop over 5x now and you would figure that within that time frame they could find out what was making the popping noise in my front end but I guess they just dont care much about their clients. I went back and told them that I found out what was wrong with the car and asked them if they were going to fix the problem like they said or if I should just take it elsewhere and they told me to take it somewhere else if that's what I wanted to do (in a rude tone). So I am now totally DONE with Mike Reed and they will NOT be getting anymore of my or my friend's business ever again. I can't believe that someone who promises the world to their clients would treat them this poorly in the end when I have been nothing but nice and cooperative with them. All I have to say is that I wish I had never walked onto that lot and would have bought my car from anyone else but them. Good luck to anyone who deals with them, I hope your exp. is better than mine.

1 definition of ignorance is un educated in some areas. I'm 26 and spent my life working on cars since I was 8 or 9. And come from 4 generations of mechanics. 2 battery's and switches go bad at a moments notice. I.E. overcharge the curcuits, there only as good as there creators. Let's face it, we aren't perfect. I've had 20 year old cars with 400,000 miles and only changed oil and brakes. And I've had 2 year old car give me nothing but problems. 3 bigger car dealers aren't in the habbit of trying to hurt anyone, think of the amount of people they see and try to take car of a day. And most are inconsiderate. I apoligize for my generation, we lost our sense of respect. 4 you are right though the salesman has no right to treat you like that. And no I don't work for a dealer,so I'm not swayed. And to VD, that 800.00 was probably a rip off. Take you're car to a brake shop it has brake problems, take it to a muffler shop the same. Advice to everyone, learn to look at a car before you buy it. People miss things.

To Hates Ignorance-
I have checked with 6 different mechanics as well as the dealership 4-5x on this same issue and nobody can seem to find the noise once the car is racked. My husband has been a mechanic in the military for 9 years now and even he can't figure out what it is, so I looked at recalls on the car and as of right now there are none but in the past there have been recalls on the ISS, the suspension as well as the sway bars and the exhaust hangers but the only one of those that even MIGHT fit this noise is the sway bar, so that is my next mission is to get my "new mechanic" to find out if that's it or not. And as far as Chevy goes, I know that cars aren't made like they used to be and I am not complaining about the makers, I am complaining about the actual CUSTOMER and AUTO SERVICE that I have received with this purchase. I have been in there so much within the last 7 months for this issue that they basically tell me to go home and shut up....But it's ok because I have found other dealerships/mechanics that are taking the time to find the issue and not even charging me for work unless they FIND the issue....Which Mike Reed was doing...Charging for "time in the shop" when nobody else is doing that...Sorry if I offended you, it was nothing personal against mechanics in general :)

Mike reed chevrolet has made alot of changes over the course of this year. with competitive prices, and a stronger yet more considerate sales force, Mike Reed has definately stepped up his game. Ive recently done buisness with, Floyd Sanders, a well experienced sales professional up their and it was well worth my time and i saved ALOT of money!

This is the best Car Dealership in Hinesville in my opinion! I won't be shopping anywhere else for a new vehicle! The people were friendly, our sales consultant greeted us right away and introduced herself. She answered all of our questions we had. Michelle Reid is an excellent sales consultant. I would reccomend my family and friends to her. She went out of her way to help us pick the Malibu and our Camaro. She is friendly, outgoing, and willing to do what it takes to make the sale without making you feel pressured. We walked away from Mike Reed Chevrolet completely satisfied. I like the fact that Michelle has contacted us several times through mail or phone calls checking to see if we are satisfied and if everything is going ok with our new vehicles. This dealership goes the extra mile!!!
