Well folks we non-republicans outnumber these dumb chit republicans 2 to 1. In my 60's now social security paid in for 42 years and never privatized like these fools wanted to do. But come 62 what do republicans do? First ones down at the social security office to apply for " Government Money". Damn fools Let's all rejoice today and just be happy bush is gone and romney shot his pathetic little bitty wad. I'm enjoying life doctor prescribed percocet, glass of Kentucky Deluxe, and a great big joint. Now the most pleasant thing in life is to hear these small minded piss ant republicans talk their stupid BS on this forum. Hey they are the ones hurting and trying to make a bigger issue than normal about Benghazi. Where were these azzholes when bush and cheney were stealing us blind and murdering Iraqs and naive deceived Americans just 10 short years ago. Thgey gave me a good case of PTSD.

Most of these republicans pricks will be gone soon, kind of like grasshoppers when winter comes. After all what do they have to hold on to? I believe most of us independents, who control the election, got our final dose of their plague with bush. No we are'rt ever going to be fooled again. I will be there at every election and I hope to see a conservative democrat but will be forced to vote anything but a f-cking republican. Thanks to all for listening and have a great day cause I sure am. Now daughter RolLLLLLLLLLLLL another one just like the OTHERRRRRRRRRRRR one!

I don't think I could make it out here long without my Alabama born and raised daughter and my Georgia daughter who is a RSN. And hypothetically one pours the drinks while the other rolls the "controlled subtance" F their control, their walls are a coming down. Look at Colorado and Washington.

Anyway I hope not to offend anyone over personal weed beliefs and more importantly that we still have lawful elections because in many parts of this world elections turn into very violent ordeals including riots and murder.

I was in your town last summer (I was born on Fort Benning 57 yrs. ago and spent my first seven years there) and was very impressed with downtown, clean and comfortable. How's the river release going and is it ready for kayaks yet?

The better question is "Where is BigDummy1 ?"

He said he was under the weather a week or so ago and we haven't heard a word from him since.

I hope the commies didn't get him. I was only joking about him filling up his canteen and joining a "Red Dawn" type group to protect the mall from commies. I thought.

Seriously though - I hope he's ok..

Below is a very interesting article discussing the Super-Majority requirements in the U.S. Senate. It was written by Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley.

It's well worth a read in the interest of general knowledge.

By Jeff Merkley,November 04, 2011

My colleague Sen. Ron Johnson recently argued on these pages that a supermajority voting requirement in the Senate is part of our Founding Fathers’ constitutional design and that recent efforts to change it are driving the “bankrupting of America”[“A simple majority is not enough,” op-ed, Oct. 23].

I take a different view.

At no time did our Founders envision that the Senate would require a supermajority to pass legislation. Indeed, the Constitution requires a supermajority only for very limited purposes, including the ratification of treaties and the override of a presidential veto.

Nor did the early Senate adopt any supermajority requirements by rule. Senators extended the courtesy of extensive debate as a basic principle of deliberation, but they passed all legislation by simple majorities.

While some were tempted to talk a bill to death by not agreeing to a final vote, this temptation was moderated by working relations — historically, the Senate had many fewer members than it does today — a deep commitment to the principle of majority rule, and the prospect that if individuals were to abuse the process, the Senate could respond by adopting a rule change with a simple majority.

Many Founders saw the possibility of a supermajority requirement for passing bills as destructive, inappropriately subjugating the wisdom of the many to the wisdom of the few. Alexander Hamilton observed in the Federalist papers that a supermajority requirement has a “tendency to embarrass the operations of government” and would generate “tedious delays; continual negotiation and intrigue; contemptible compromises of the public good.” This characterization matches how many Americans perceive the Senate today.

I suspect that you have some very interesting perspectives on things. It's too bad I never quite know what the heck you're trying to say.

Maybe you could try to keep things more linear, explain in more detail and use full sentences? Perhaps then those that don't already know what you're thinking can follow along?

The crux of that story, in my opinion, is that "she turned down a raise because... the extra money would decrease her government benefits". This is when we know the system is broken. Someone in a recent post used the phrase I think is so appropriate (my apologies for not crediting it) that the safety net has become a hammock. I don't know anyone who begrudges someone in true need the help they need to get back on their feet - but it was never intended to become a way of life that then gets passes on to the next generation who doesn't know any other way of life and truly believes they ARE entitled to that govt check. And this country CANNOT afford to keep able bodied people in that same hammock. There must be drastic reform, for the good of everyone, those benefits will either end for those who are not truly needy, just parasitical OR they will end for EVERYONE, even those for whom they are truly intended and who truly need it. There is no way the current system can be maintained, there aren't enough taxpayers left.
You are speaking about Social Security, and I agree.
