With all of the talk lately about the trail ride....I was wondering Mrs.Pigman....is there a way to find out exactly how much was made, and how it was distributed? Everyone goes on about it being such a big deal, and I'm sure its fun for folks, but what is it actually profiting? WHO is actually making anything off it?

I will request the records from Treasurer, Byron Jacobs, under the
open records law, but I will wait until after the next Fiscal Court
meeting so he has any claims submitted that have not yet paid. The
receipts should have already been given to him for deposit.

I am keeping a list of items requested from readers and I am either
researching them myself or have requested info under the open records from appropriate people.

What do you think about putting my answers on a blog. or some type of web site besides this, that people can't put their comments and requests on and letting all comments and requests be on this forum. That way all people can read the information I have without having to look at these comments if they don't want to.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Over 11000 people at $15/head is over $165000. Now let's see how it benefits the county.

You'd be surprised how much that trail ride helped some of the local businesses. Thank you R. Thompson for the drive and determination in starting this event. Also a big thank you for the much needed infrastructure we are now seeing in our county... FOUR MORE YEARS...

I think a blog would be great...and if I knew how to set up one,I'd help you.But since I know only basic computer stuff,I'm not sure how you'd start one.I think you're doing an excellent job though in posting this info.Judging by all the little emblems, you must be ticking some off, which tells me you need to keep it up!! LOL This is info we all need to know.I,for one, thank you!!!

I mentioned this idea to my grandson and he set a blog up for me.
I only know basic computer stuff also, but do know how to type and do reasearch. I'm not sure I even know how to tell you to find the
blog. It is called "The Pig's Pen" I started entering some of the stuff I have written here (and on the other) last night. It will take me awhile to get the hang of it.

He had one when he was very young and also he graduated from Morehead with a business degree plus several graduate hours. Probably had computer classes at KCCHS too.

I can't give you all of the happenings but I will try to cover the
ones most important. I don't know who you are but it seems most everybody our kids and grandkids went to school with has been in our home at one time or another which was our pleasure. Hope to find out who you are someday. Now that I am getting old I find I don't sleep as well so I just get up in the middle of the night and get on the computer. The politicans will probably send me some sleeping pills.

Fiscal Court Meeting - 2/17/2010 - A resolution by the KCFC to authorize the use of the old jail building and property as a match for funding to construct a new parking structure.

Summary -- "Be it resolved by the Court that Judge-Executive Randy Thompson be authorized to sign and execute all documentation necessary to request funding to construct a parking structure on the old jail building property, and be it further resolved that Judge-Executive Randy Thompson be authorized to write a letter of support suggesting the use of the old jail building and its property as a match for this funding."
Motion for adoption was made by Haskell Ritchie and seconded by John Short. Voting for: Haskell Ritchie,
John Short, Wade Noble and Thelma Hall." Motion was declared passed.

If you read the minutes and did nothing else this is all you would know. Judge did write a letter in support along with other people: Janice Jarrell, Mayor of Hindman; Scott Cornett, Mayor of Pippa Passes; Larry Parke (two letters - one for the Knott County Chamber of Commerce and one as Campus Director of the Knott County Branch of HCTC; Benny Ray Bailey of EKHSC; Dennis B. Prater, District Judge; Glenda Shrum, letter written on Administrative Office of the Courts stationery as Personnel Supervisor (of the Knott County Drug Court); Tricia Watts, Exec Dir of Appalachian Artisan Center; Dawnetta Dobson, of Knott Co Protection and Permanency; Connie J. Johnson, Coordinator of Knott Health Center; Eva Conley Huff, Knott County Senior Citizens; Charla C. Napier, COO of Primary Care Center of KY, and Kimberly D. Childers, Knott County Circuit Judge.

So all the people listed above are in favor of not having a jail in Knott County...and are in support of letting the LKLP have the jail property for a parking structure. What a crock...this county needs a jail. We pay Perry County...way to much money...when we could house our on inmates hear in Knott county. And have a few jobs for our Knott countians to work at. And besides that...it would be close for our people to go and see their loved ones. It looks like some of the listed above will be running for office soon...so voters of this county...remember these names.

I don't really like Randy. I do believe, at this time.He is what Knott County needs to keep growing. Other than coal all we have is tourism. That is what brings outside money into the local economy. The crowds at the Gingerbread Festival are getting smaller. Bigger events have to be put into play. I have no interest in the trail rides but they take advantage of what we have.

Four...I'am going to ask you right now for your vote in support of Ronnie Watts. I too do not like Thompson and it's not a personal thing. There are so much in and around Thompson and the fiscal court that the people of this county don't know. There hasn't been a budget report in the newspaper since 2008...they(the fiscal court)wants to keep that hid from the people of this county. Now we have this nice lady(Emma Lois Pigman)that cares enough about this county...to use her personal time to bring us(the poeple of this county)the info. that should be in the newspaper at least one time a year. He (Thompson)doesn't want this info. that she(Mrs. Pigman)is researching and putting it on topix for all the people of this county to see. He (Thompson) doesn't like this at all...thing in the county government are being reviled and the people are seeing the true colors of Thompson and the fiscal court. I have been trying to get this news out for a long time now...and to be honest with you he doesn't like it when I write...I've always told the truth and it kills his soul...now Mrs. Pigman is bring out the truth from records in plain black and white...him (Thompson) and his gang can't stand the fact that they (Thompson and the fiscal court) are being uncovered. Listen to me... think about it...I'am asking for your vote for Watts this November 2,2010...check and ask about Watts...ask around in this county about Watts...what a good and honest person he is. ;)
