I have a two year old son and I work. I pay for the best childcare and I do it alone. Never had to ask the government for anything.

i have never had to ask the government for anything either. but, it's not easy as i'm sure you know. but, that is not the case for everyone. government assistance is there for a reason. it makes me sick to see people that abuse the system when there are people out there that honestly need help from time to time.

Seriously....it is better to get a job than ask for a handout. Too many women get knocked up here and expect their exes to foot the bill and government to pay the groceries. Get your kids in a daycare and get a job. Period. There is really nothing else to say. I am so sick of paying taxes to feed your mouths!!!!

Yes I am employed what i dunno for 24 years and I work every day Thank You very much. What I said was that the lady needed help and got very little and I agree she needed help and I feel bad for her . In Knott Co most of the people up there won't hit a lick in a pie factory. They act like they can't work just to get a SSI check and food stamps. I was raised in knott co and graducated from Knott central and I thought that the only way to have anything was to WORK . People depend on the Goverment to dam much. I go back home quit often and I see the same stuff all the time a bunch of scum that's waiting for a hand out when they could go get a JOB. So FOODSTAMP I'm sorry for your trouble and I hope you all the luck in the world.
I agree with you 100%.Those people in Knott co.,they would never work,as long as the state helps them,They should start a work force and make them pick trash from the roads, clean that place up,the drugs is taking that place over. There is work if you look for it,my family lefted from there 40yrs.ago,We have always worked,we hate to come back up there and see how those lazy people live.Hope the gov. cuts all of them off.

I think the woman who started this thread was trying to make a point. Not stating her life situations for everyone to bash on her. I do agree with the ones who are against people abusing the system, but for those who are in real need of assistance, I pray that they find it. I have worked every since I was 16 years old and my husband was recently physically hurt in an automobile accident and so I haven't been able to go back to work in over a year. We are in fact receiving assistance from the government and it's barely enough to get me and my husband by the entire month. So I know this poor mother of 3 has to be in a rough spot. So unless you can offer her an act of kindness or words of inspiration and hope then why don't you tuck your tales between your legs and shut up. GOD is the answer. He will provide for you and your kids. Call upon him and as long as you have faith that he can, he will provide for you. He works in mysterious ways and when you least expect it he'll give you what you need. Just never lose your faith in him... With God everything is possible. My best of wishes go out to you and your children.

I hae a full time job and I am a recently divorced single mom of three and I applied for food stamps for the first time ever in my life. I did it for my children. I submitted all of my proper documentation and I was approved. Well at the end of the six month period I reapplied and was assigned a new case worker and she said I was denied because I make two hundred dollars over the limit. I then asked how when pay has not changed because I am on salary. She said I should have never been approved and that my first caseworker made a mistake when calculating my income. I then asked to speak to her supervisor and the supervisro said " yes I see where he made his maistake". She then told me not only was I denied but I now have to pay back what I have already used! The caseworker made the mistake and I have to pay back $2,189.00. All everyone at the food stamp office keeps telling me is "Sorry but those are the rules". It doesn't matter who makes the mistake the client has to pay back what was used. How is this fair? He is employed by them and he made the mistake and everyone has acknowledged this and yet nothing happens to him and I am penalized. If I had this kind of money to pay back I would have never applied for benefits in the first place. I really think that the government should have a benefit program in place that helps single parents. There are so many single parent families out there that struggle and no one seems to give a crap. There are so many people out there that take advantage of the government help that is out there and when there are actually families that really need help they just don't qualify because of one thing or another. Is there anyone with the same problem and if so how did you handle it?

if this person is a jok and lazy, why would they work all their life, taking care of their kids, why didn't they just get on welfare and food stamps years ago.same with my husband, who worked in the mines ,all his life, every hour he could get, to take care of his family, making 75,000.00 a year, broke his neck, tried to get help, his superiors said he was just lazy abd didn't want to work , sorry, but his work record spoke for itself.why would you give up a 75,000.00 a year job, to come home and beg for food, for real ppl.bless the judge, he didn't buy what the company was saying, we won.

then called morehead, for a friend about her child, rules were completely different for getting stamps. i think they make their own rules up or something.

I guess we should let the older population starve to death to that depends on Food stamps?
Funny how you republicans has the answer for everything, get a job,get a job is all i ever hear...
My mother is 81 yrs old and worked all her life and draws around $800.00 dollars a month from social security(Some Security). If it was not for food stamps and family helping she would go hungry.
Even when it comes to Heap (Home energy assistance program)the republicans vote against this every year.John Mccain who ran for president is one of the biggest opponents of this program.
If it was left up to the republicans the eldery would starve and freeze to Death every winter..
The same thinking goes to ones who sometimes find themselves in a hard spot,"The Hell with with them" let them find a job....
People better wise up and start voting some of these "jack asses" out of office or we all will starve or freeze to death one of these days.....

I agree with working women. Drugs have taken over Knott Co. It is very sad. Plus, these drug heads gets so doped up and lays around while their childern are over there crying wanting somethig to eat or just to be payed attention too and they dont get it. I would really like to know thou, if you can afford ciggrattes and booze/drugs, why do you need food stamps. people are so doped up here that they would rather cheat the goverment and stuff. Not saying that something bad could happen and you cant work and need foodstamps and stuff, but im talking about the ones that haven't worked a day in their lives nothing wrong with them out for a good time. some people gets foodstamps and sells them. OK what is the point in getting them and then selling them. oh wait I know drugs. People here are extremely pathetic.

People food stamps are there to help you you can request a different worker, I know I have family that works there and they give you what they can by the law from frankfort, if one worker dont help you ask for another and they will do the best they can, but in this economy with that peice of garbage that we call our president we are all screwed if we think the goverment is gonna help us buy a 5 cent peice of bullgum hell might should start seling crack or something lol but seriously most of the workers do the best they can if you get a bad one life Joan Caudill your hurting for certain but you can always request another one just say you slept with her step-daughter and she doesnt like you and they will gladly transfer you.. ask me.. I HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT .. and "Or Maybe" we life in KNOTT COUNTY do you really think an online job application is something we have an abundence of in this area you jack a** and times are hard and the economy is only getting worse but you are probably some spoiled little brat that growed up with a golden spoon with diamonds in the handle so you can either shut up or take a diamond outta your spoon and shove it up your a**

While I'll agree some people can be a pain to deal with,(such as some case workers,or anyone else that works with the public),people need to realize that those folks are just there to do THEIR job. They work for the payday, just like everyone else. The rules/guidelines determining whether you're eligible and/or for how much,is NOT up to those workers. Those guidelines are set by the state and/or federal government, and there isn't anything those workers can do about it.If you feel you have been unjustly denied, call the Ombudsman and they will check it out for you.
