After a six month long investigation the Kentucky State Police were out in Knott County cracking down on drug dealers.
They say drug informants and under cover agents helped them track down the criminals.

"It's always important for us to be vigilant against narcotics... and to keep up the fight against it to send a message to the public that we're out here doing something," said State Police Capt. Scott Miller.

Officials say it's a group effort ... From the support and help of commonwealth attorney Graham Martin to the partnership with Operation Unite... Everyone has teamed together to combat what they call a growing epidemic.

"Everybody knows enforcement is not the only answer...there are other elements involved...treatment..educatio n a big thing and we try to take part in that as well," said Miller.

"I've been the sheriff in Knott county for thirteen months ... since I've been sheriff we've had approximately 30 to 35 young people overdose...mainly between the ages of 20 and 30 so it definitely is a bad problem because we're about to lose a whole generation of young people," said Knott county sheriff Dale Richardson.

But police say it's not just younger people that have a problem. It's people of all ages.
At least one person we talked to says he's innocent.

Police want to stress to the public that they're always investigating tips.

"When you call in we're going to respond..we're going to do something. you may not see it immediately...but we're doing something with it," said Miller.

Police say they are thankful for the public's help and urge people to call in with any information they have.

Here is a list of those arrested:
William Hicks
Chester Hollifield
Hattie Mosley
Joshua Patrick
Curtis Combs
Newton Johnson
Sherri Ritchie
Washington Ritchie
Hershel Hollifield
Ronald Niece
Velva Terry

Here is who officers are still searching for:
Gary Eddie Prater
Hope Noble
Eric Mosley
John Whitaker
Terry Hurley
Norman Kubander, Jr.
Marshall Lee Smith
Robert Stamper
Dwight Amburgey
Mary Sargent

This makes my day!:) I hate drugs, it destroyed my marriage, my family, and my childs life (not having a daddy around).. But that's peoples choices I guess.. I know about 10-15 more that needs to be on the list.. I believe I'll call and report them!:) I'm so glad Knott County is doing something about it though, too many young people around here are dying.. Maybe this was the "disease" God was talking about in the Bible that was going to destroy the world.. Horrible, just horrible.. and sad.

If they would search out some of these off road areas they would catch a lot more. there's one place on pinetop called buffalo rd, there has to be drug dealers every time I pass by in the evenings there are vechile's going in and out, and with only 4 houses. The first of the month it is 2 times worse. The holler above there meadow lark the sameway way to much traffic for these places. could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I think people should list names that they know so the police can catch them all. These drug dealers are killing our children, sisters, brothers and so on.Start listing names and I bet it will slow down.I hate people who take advantage of a person that is addicted, and has a sickness, and people like these nasty,un-educated,skanks that are too lazy too get a job,DOPE DEALERS so if you know um' list um'As good of a job as unite is doing they will get them!!!

Those of you complaining about snitches probably have some hands in the business yourselves. I agree, drugs are destroying Appalachia and the youth of Knott County. Sure, it's a matter of "personal choice", but methamphetamine is a horrible drug made from really random and disgusting crap that's illegal for a reason. Get over the fact that people want to protect their friends and their kids from such a horrible invention.

Until law enforcement does something about the DOCTORS supplying these drugs, Eastern Kentucky will keep spiraling down the road to DESTRUCTION.

until some of the cops get off the dug dealers payroll nothing won't be done. most of the drug dealers are informants. some of these people have been in business 2 long for them not 2 have cops in their back pocket. This list of people that are still wanted are out and about everyday just like the rest of us if they wanted them they could have already have them. I called myself a couple of years ago to report drug deals going on in one area there were so many cars that no one could get in or out because it was snowing and the cars was getting stuck and I told the cops this and no one showed up. It took until about 2 in the morning to get everbody out.
