Am I the only one sick of all the negativity? Every time I read this board I see post after post, most likely from the same select group of individuals, putting this county, its people, and its way of life down. This county might not have all the bells and whistles of a bustling city but it still has a lot of good people left in it.

And I'd like to ask a question of all those people putting it down: What have you done to improve this county? You can bitch and moan all day along about how bad it is if you have done something to improve upon this area. If not, you need to shut the hell up and go do something.

There are a lot of people who envision brighter things for this town. Help them to make this place better. If you can't do that then at least stop making it worse. If you aren't part of the solution then you're part of the problem.

Well what low life politician are you shacked up with. It's the uneducated twits holding this county back along with do-gooders imposing their religion on us. I go to church to, but I don't make everyone bend over and be screwd because of of it. Why does this pathetic county re-elect convicted felons? Answer that one.

You're both right. But, we have to at least try to improve our situation. If we sit back and do nothing, then we've already lost.
Some of us do still care about this place.

Almost ALL of the negativity comes form a very very small group of disgruntled Democrats, known by most as the Mountain Mafia, that has never been able to get beyond the fact that a Republican got elected as Judge Executive. It's politics, pure and simple. They will never work with a Republican no matter what. They have decided to sit back and hope that he goes to jail instead of trying to help improve the county.

Hey, I agree that there is a LOT of improvement to be made here. The point I was trying to make is that bitching and moaning won't help solve the problem. If we want to make positive changes then we have to act. Get motivated and make the change you want to see. If we sit back and do nothing all the while bemoaning this area we have solved nothing.

I disagree that almost ALL negativity comes from disgruntled Democrats. You are wearing blinders. It's coming from the people who are tired of a County that is filled with corruption. No matter what political party.

You choose to blame a political party for the negativity that surrounds Knott County. Take your blinders off. The negativity comes from the fact, that Knott County has had to deal with one corrupt politician after another. Most people are sick and tired of corrupt idiots, regardless of their political party.

Good people hold a very negative attitude toward breaking the law, the good old boy politics, corruption and corrupt people, as they should. To uphold a criminal and criminal acts, is to be no better than the person who committed them. Thompson deserves to go to jail for what he's done, just like any other official in any city, in any state. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

It's not about the poltical party, it's about corruption and an open diregard for what is honest, right and the law, pure and simple.

It's pathetic and shameful, that the area is known as one of the most corrupt areas in the Country, where it's all about who you know or who you are connected with. I am from Knott County, and I am disgusted at the backward, let's make excuses for the corrupt attitude. I am disgusted that decisions that affect peoples' lives are about who knows whom, rather than fact, truth, honesty and the law. I am disgusted that so many people now, seem to have adopted an apathetic attitude of, that's just the way it is here. Where are the people who have the backbone, the strength and the drive to stand firmly for what is right and true.

How about some real honesty and real leadership for a change. Knott County needs leaders and officials that can be looked up to, not the kind that you need to make excuses for.

one thing you forget, or i hear however, is that knott county is very family oriented. in fact, you people love your family so much that you marry each other.hahaha. i'm so glad i am only visiting and do not have to live here. but it is quite an experience to see how the lower class live.

Yeah I guess it's different for you being from Indiana. We do love our families and some might even marry them, But we are still a higher class of people. At least we stick to people. In Indiana You people don't need no family to love or marry all you need is a good cow. guess that's where the old saying comes from about free milk and a cow! hahahaha! Or maybe you come here because you heard we breed the best horses,Well I'm afraid you being from Indiana and not very bright you got that confused.we breed them with OTHER HORSES! Go back to your cows I'm sure they miss you.
