Favre was a great quarterback and a class guy. I'd love to see the Vikes get someone like him.

If this is for real, then thank you #4 for playing the game with heart and passion. Those are traits that you don't see in the NFL any longer. He is a great person and competitor and the NFL was lucky to have him, as were the Packers.

Yes, take that Pack! Who has quarterback woes now, huh?!

Ahem. The Vikings fan in me is glad he's retiring. I figured he would though, since this last season was so good for him. Why come back and possibly suffer through one that's not as good?

Well, now the Vikes and the Pack will be evenly matched again and we can rekindle the rivalry with new blood! YeeHa!

As much as I hated the guy (think back to all those fourth quarter drives he orchastrated) he was a worthy advisary. Hopefully now the pack will suck again!

If the guy was smart he wouldn't be retiring on one of the busiest news days in recent memory. He'll be luck to get his story on page 12. The guy is without a doubt the most over rated QB ever. Now,take your Bart Starr.......

If Favre had played for any other team, outside of the remaining NFC North teams, I would have been a huge fan of his. I respected him very much and was amazed at the seemingly endless stream of impossible passes he completed and the countless comebacks. However, as a die-hard Viking fan, I never did like him.

He was a tremendous player and an asset to the NFL and Packer fans everywhere.

Godspeed, Brett!

it is a sad day here in packerland, it has been a great ride with favre at the helm. hopefully, rogers has watched and learned for the last couple years. the big question for me is not if he can play, it is if he can stay injury free like the iron man favre. He played for part of one game in '06, broke his foot, one game in '07 and then pulled a hamstring in practice the following week. '08 will be fun to watch in the north.

Its about time he leaves the game for good. I couldnt even watch the Green bay packers play any more cause it seemed like it was all about favre. none of the other players. When they won a game it was all him even though he only throws the ball. He dont run it or ge touchdowns. Leave and dont come back just for the publicity.

Not a Packer's fan but I did love watching Brett Favre at QB. He had a good run--just hope his body allows him to have a great retirement~he earned it.

A sad day for the NFL. But an opportunity to salute a player who was the best at what he did, added class and pure fun to an arena that is fading into hip hop mediocrity, and, hopefully, caught a lot of young eyes along the way. Well done, Mr. Favre. Enjoy your retirement in good health and with the respect of true fans everywhere. You most certainly earned it.

I"LL MISS HIM PLAYING. He is one of the BEST! The PACKERS won't be the same to play against. They always had a chance. NOW WE'LL BEAT THEM EVERY TIME EASILY!

What a wonderful morning! I can't decide how to celebrate. This must have been how it felt in the Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch died. There will be a lot of tears shed in a lot of beer tonight in Wisconsin and that makes me smile from ear to ear. This just proves Favre was all about himself to the end -- he just wanted to get all those records last year. With #4 gone, there is a new king of the NFC North and that team wears purple! I've been waiting for this day for years and now it's finally here! Ding-dong the witch is dead!

Coming from a pure VIKINGS fan, he will, and should, be known as one of the top echelon of QB's ever, and for 17 yrs we wish we had him in MN. Fourth quarter drives that were nothing less than amazing, He could allways pull something out of his ... that would leave the opposing team in bewilderment. I'll miss him because it was somewhat a line of acheivement to beat the guy. Future coach?...yep

It is indeed a sad day in sports! Favre was the best of the best! I was in fact looking forward to next season to see if Brett would have beat his Dallas curse! Now he is retiring with an 0-9 record in Dallas! O well, can't win them all! Thanks for the memories Brett!
