Boy, from all the posts this past couple weeks, I thought liberals were against borrowing money that "the children and grandchildren" would have to repay.

And here it is Governor Pawlenty that is trying to get them to reduce the amount to borrow.

Guess all those posters were liars.

It is the old story that many have endured for years. The Leftist Mommy's have institutionalized this attitude;

Mommy says....Move your "crap", I need room for my "stuff".

And the perfect description of the Leftist mommy's New State

"Whats yours is mine"...... "Whats mine is mine"...... "Whats theirs is ours"

Good thing there is $4 million for a high-speed rail line between St. Paul and Chicago.

The only people needing a faster route to and from Chicago are the people coming up here once a month to collect a welfare check.

Great. Take my tax $ back to Chicago.

The DFL is on a roll. Six and a half billion here, a billion there and another billion here. Now, all I need is the ability to vote myself an increased salary and per diem like they can to afford it all.
I am so glad the DFL is looking out for the common working Minnesotan.

We don't have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. This is the DFL payment to the unions for helping these poor excuses for legislators keep their power.

If the boondoggle between downtown Mpls and downtown St. Paul is one Billion dollars, how much do you think $4 million will get you between St. Paul and Chicago? a foot? ten feet? This is a waste and if you dig further, you will probably find it is for a pork barrel project somehow connected to the railroad in someone's district like Steve Murhpy or something... I also noted that we heard about strapping our "children and grandchildren" with big bills, read the part about the U of M and the next 30 years, who is going to pay for that? Dem's are full of Sh*t, they are only concerned with having power, PERIOD.

I thought that for the last year or so the DFL claimed that bonding mortgaged our children's future. What's up?

Like Puxatawney Phil, the sows have shown up at the public trough for feeding time in the bi-annual bonding bill. Ice rinks? museums? polar bears?!

give me a break DFL. NOT ONE of you has the marbles to make a decision to prioritize any spending. Your answer is to raise taxes and spend more. Everyone gets everything. DO YOU THINK WE DON'T NOTICE?

T-Paw, please bring the chainsaw to this bill when it reaches your desk.

Yes, highland guy. Everyone gets everything, except you and I. Those that go to work every day, pay their taxes, and follow society's rules are the ones paying for all of this.

I could live on a legislator's tax-free per diem alone.

I could also live on what a welfare beneficiary receives with careful budgeting.

Maybe it's time to quit my job, go on the dole and stop paying taxes.

It's all about spending priorities and the DFL's spending priorities are rewarding its constituencies, not doing the highest priority projects for the state as a whole.

So where does the money come for operating all of these projects once they are built? In other words, how much are taxpayers going to be paying out every year to operate and maintain these projects for the next 50 - 70 years? Then the DFL quickly factors in that amount to the budget and say we need to raise taxes to fully support these projects, and anything less is a budget cut. Shameful politics.

Then the standard DFL modus operanda is to make us out to be the enemy when we either say it shouldn't be built or if we say that really is a local benefit only project meaning the people locally should pay for that expense.

Also, where is the environmental/global warming impact assessment that the DFL only seems to apply to projects that don't reward their constituencies? Case in point, the new Minneapolis Public Library. Didn't anyone question building a glass building in Minnesota as being environmentally stupid? More of do as we say, not as we do DFL behavior.

At least the road to that new Vermilion state park, practically in Canada, will be funded. Too bad gas will be so expensive that I won't be able to drive there.

HEY, wait a minute! Wasn't the lottery supposed to fund the DNR and our parks? Oh, that's right, half of the lottery money goes into the general fund to be handed back to the welfare folks.

Wait another minute! Isn't this Legacy Act going to fund parks? Shouldn't we just wait until the next bonding year to see if the Act passes? no? oh. my bad.

I'm glad we have priorities like this.
They treat my taxes like Monopoly money.

Who needs any of this?? Because we're all going to be jobless and homeless. So just concentrate on building large dormatories so we can have a place to lay our weary heads after a full day of fighting over food.

Today I found out that my state leaders have increased another tax. This in a time when families, businesses and other struggle. I understand that there is a need for improvements and upkeep of our transportation system, but that is where my understanding stops. I look around and see all the new shiny government buildings, new bike paths and trains built for adults that should be buying a Lionel toy. This state and further more this country has lost its way. We build all these nice bike paths all over the state with taxpayer money, yes they are nice, but does the path pay taxes? No. My city had a 2-mile path put in a couple years ago in excess of one million dollars. The city counsel said it was paid with federal fund, my tax dollars. Bike bridges built over highway 55 for millions, federal money, my tax dollars. New round abouts put in many places for more million dollars. Where is it going to end? I tell you it will end when the people say no more. With that tax increase on Monday passing the money will not go where it should then next year they will get more with more taxes. Already proven with the 18 plus millions for the MDOT building. I am in construction and maybe if the state didn’t go with low bid on every project things would last longer. Plus now there will be a train going down University. If you think that this is really needed then every person should sit on university for one day and count how many empty buses there are. Maybe the billion they spend there could have been spent on new bridges and roads. This state really needs a wakeup call. It really doesn’t matter what party you are, in time we all will be broke and jobless. The spending doesn’t stop with MDOT, look at your schools, is there a reason for a new school in every small town? The town I grew up in got a new school and now regret it, but they are getting a new bike path, federal dollars, their tax money. I love Minnesota and have not thought about leaving, but now I might have to move my business elsewhere to keep it alive. It is sad when a citizen looses all faith in our government. I look at our state leaders and am embarrassed. I wish that every citizen was given a copy of the state budget and saw the real truth. I have had first hand in government spending, tear down what you built last year to rebuild next year to keep your budget. People enough is enough, I wish that there was more that we could do, but in reality there is not. The belly of the pig has grown so much that it cannot stop eating. Sad to say, I think the better days of Minnesota and our beloved country are over…

Minnesota needs another state park about as much as we need 10 more State Representatives and Senators.

Sounds to me like Pawlenty and the DFL are proposing pretty much the same thing. Quit the petulant squabbling and start fixing our state!

Actually, for Minnesotans, it should be designated "state pork" not park!

The First Ammendment does not apply to speech that is readily accepted by the mainstream. By employing a fascist to police the thought and opinions of us wee minions the PP takes us all one shade closer to the Brown Shirts!
