Stop spending money on cars, tv's and all the extras. Cut back and learn to live within your means. Look for bargains. Contact local food pantries at churches in your neighborhood.

Gosh, I'm a single mom also, wish I could be a "college student" but hey, I have the children, so guess what, I need to work so that I can afford to FEED MY CHILDREN. I mean, c'mon lady.
And by the way, I'm assuming you get food stamps, which provides plenty of money to pack your kid a lunch and feed them breakfast.

This chick ain't dumb. Better to be an un employed student so she can qualify for taxpayer-subsidized handouts. I'll bet she gets free health care, too, along with food stamps, H.E.A.P, etc.
I'd like to know where the father is. And how he is helping financially.

There's no such thing as free lunch! Those of us who work for a living and are productive members of society are paying for it!

i honestly think school lunches should be part of the price for school

the kids have to be there, the kids have to eat, i dont understand why they wouldnt do bundle pricing, we do it with everything else now

yup roach i figure if we just had it a nation wide program, we could end up making it more cost effective to provide healthier lunches

it would ensure every child eats properly at least once a day

also with all the money we are spending, this would actually be money spent in a good way

we are supposed to be the greatest country ever, yet their are kids going hungry, there are kids not eating good, and there really isnt reason for it

so much money is wasted in so many areas when that money could go to something like this and actually help our country

sure it would be more money in taxes, but parents would never have to send their kids to school with money again, you never have lunch money stolen or stuff like that, the kids will eat better, and will probably improve their learning

and i understand those who are upset about paying for this with tax payer money, but i think its all relative and relative to this, there are many other things that should be protested before protesting feeding our nations children, the future of our nation

its also funny how people complain about tax programs to help the needy

to be very truthful without those programs, this country would be in shambles

long ago we wouldve fallen the way of the former soviet union

things would not be looking as "good as they are" right now without these programs, and again, there are many other things that should be protested before going after things like those

there is the argument that by doing so we move more towards socialism then capitalism, but we are far past that worry

its obvious we are in more of a socialistic society then a capitalistic one, i personally would rather have the banks and those car companies failed, allowing the way for new ones with better technology and use the money we used there to fund programs like the ones we speak of here for the kids

i also guarantee we wouldve only spent a fraction of the bailout money to feed kids

upset you are right but I think too the kids education is important but the thing is that the government doesnt want to spend the money on them dont we all have a responsibilty as adults to give these kids the education they need because of the fact I want to see kids with a education and the tools were surpose to give them and the goernment saying to and makes cuts in education im seeing now shouldnt we say to them enough is enough with this bullsh*y there doing ?

Hey,

I qualify for reduced price lunches. I, too, am a single mother of 2 children, attend college part time and work full time. That is the ONLY assistance I get. But I don't get it because I took them out of a crappy school district and put them in a private school so they get the best education possible. My children's dad gets to avoid paying child support. Why, you ask? Cause the deadbeat is missing our court date on Monday to get married on an island in Florida. My life is dedicated to my kids. I am going to college to be able to provide better for them. So quit knocking single mothers. We are doing the best we possibly can!

The problem is a duplication of services. If you receive food stamps, that is plenty to buy breakfast food and pack your kids a lunch. But receiving food stamps AND free breakfast/lunch is lazy and greedy. It is a pain in the neck to pack a lunch each and every day to save money, but c'mon.....live in the real world.
