Yep, you heard it correctly. Hillsboro will be the place to buy or build. Why? It will soon have everything and then some (to come). What?

Let me count the pluses:

1) In 2009, the new highway 21 (scenic bi-way?) extension will be opening up making way for a straight shot from 270 all the way out to B. This will open the flood gates for big business and folks who want to buy a piece of mind. No more tackling the 55 traffic in the mornings or evenings. Yay!

2) A piece of mind? Land and quiet. Hillsboro has a wealth of beautiful rolling wooded hills (land) to buy and build on to build ones dream home (me!). It also has peace and quiet. You don't have to worry about highway 55, etc.

3) A soon to be 4 year accredited college, Jefferson College that is.

4) An awesome school system.

5) An infrastructure.

6) The county seat, so, the county goverment is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

I give it 5 years and there will be a large grocery chain, large dept. store, fast food, etc. beggin' to come to Hillsboro. It will all be owed to the new 21 to make it happen. That's why we are building there. It just makes sense as the best and strategic place in JeffCo to move. TIP: If you are going to build, then buy your land NOW! There's plenty to go around, and yes, even in restricted subdivisions for those who want that type of lifestyle. After 2009, the current rate will skyrocket.

Hillsboro is the place to live. The subdivisions are growing like crazy. We haven't gotten much more commericial places or industry but the highway is open and things are growing.

but I believe there are better schools in Jefferson county, ones that have received many awards that Hillsboro hasn't and that is a biggie for families with children. They want the schools to be stronger than the growth of businesses, and I think that will hurt a bit...

The schools have been better in the past, and have room for improvement. The School Board need to remove their heads from their rears, and take responsibility for their actions. They also need to get the administrators "on the same page." We have some that encourage parental involvement, while others make the parents feel that they are a hinderance to the education of their own children. The schood did take a huge leap forward by finally getting rid of the old high school principal. Now they just have to start weeding out the remainder of her Herky "cronies", and continue a positive rebuilding process.

because that is where it starts sometimes, getting rid of the old and putting new in charge. I have seen what making positive changes in a school district can do. When De Soto changed administration several years ago the district flourished, and once the curriculicum coordinator was allowed to do her job, we grew by leaps and bounds. I have a lot of faith is MOST of the administrators for our district, not all, there are a few, well, ok, one that could go and I wouldn't cry about it. I hope that you see positive changes in your district as we have in ours. The whole attitude changes from the kids to the parents and it only goes up from there. Good luck!

Those are possible tenants because that developer has other sites with them on it? When you click on the Hillsboro MO location.....so far, nothing, nadda.....not one tenant. Wish they would hurry up!

Im thinking about renting a rental house in hillsboro I found the ad in the thrifty nickel. I called and it went to some agent, the house is not agent owned but the renter goes through this service to find someone to rent the property. They told me I would have to pay their fee for their service but before I do I want to look at the house and make sure its not a scam. They wont give me the address but they told me it was off of hwy 21 and coyote. does anyone know where this intersection is or where a road called coyote is??

I have never heard of a Coyote Rd is Jefferson County off of Hwy. 21. Maybe it is in Washington County because it isn't here.

Hillsboro is a piece of shit, we moved here in 1990, and NO and I mean NO improvement since, besides vacant strip malls! The county seed are crooks, and their cronies will harrass the hell out of you for no reasons at all. Where is the huge retailers? Food places? All we have is a huge vacant lot, that is an eye sore to the Hillsboro park, and a new Dollar General store (like anyone really shops there). Hillsboro schools have declined every year since 2001, and continue down the crapper. When DeSoto has higher test scores than Hillsboro you know something is not right. Oh and dont forget about the Hillsboro police that run 21 like they are the Hwy cops! Bulldoze the whole damn town and let the surronding communities prosper!

Obviously "Hillsbordo" must be another uneducated person who speaks out of ignorance. I have lived here for years and if he hasn't realized empty stip malls occur durning a recession. This town has almost doubled in size in less than 10 years. Oh, Hillsboro P.D. wouldn't have to sit on the Highway and run radar if people passing through Hillsboro on there way to De Soto knew how to read their speedometer.

Yes, and there are other people passing through Hillsboro on THEIR way to places other than just DeSoto - the road does go farther than DeSoto.
