If you have any questions or concerns about the new grading system they are trying to implement into De Soto's schools you NEED to attend the board meeting on Dec. 20, 6:00 at Athena. There is a petition going around De Soto that you can also sign.

How does this work? I am assuming it is a cover for the piss poor job the teachers are doing educating the students and a way to make them all look equally retarded!

I don't have a dog in the fight but go easy on the teachers, they don't come to your job and throw rocks at you while you are mowing grass or shoveling snow.

Another example of an uneducated idiot from De Soto running their mouth before knowing the facts.... Like someone else stated, the teachers want this grading system gone more that most becasue they are finding that it isn't grading students fairly and accurately which can in turn affect gpa and scholarship opportunities for the students... In some cases students grades are inflated and in others the students grades are deflated... All in all the teachers are looking out for the best interest of the students. Please get your facts straight before you open your mouth, it only makes you look like an idiot...

AGREED!!! Working in a school district myself this grading system doesn't grade the students fairly on what they know and have learned! Teachers want this gone as well as the involved parents of the students this is hurting!!! There have been several discrepencies on the way these students papers have been graded because of this 4 point grading scale. In no way should the teachers be to blame in this they are following the guidelines of what they have been told. This system is in no way getting these students ready for college!!!! If you support getting rid of this please come to the board meeting!!

They may not come to my job but they send these functionally illiterate morons out into the world where they expect people like me to employ them even though they can't read, write, or do math!

if we were unable to attend the meeting where can we get information. I myself am not familiar with it. and what happened to plan ol' ABCDF lol.. I hope it's not the 1 where there have to be so many A's so many Bs so many Cs and so on. I've heard of that but never heard of it being implemented into any school in particular.

The homework is not counting as a grade in math it's solely based on test grades. So for the kids who are horrible at tests they fail!!! It's based on what the teacher thinks you know. As far as your comments about being morons.... You need to educate yourself on disabilities in the world.... I world with some very special students and no they may not have the same function as you but by no means are they morons...

HAHAHAHA Their all "special" students in this bizarro world! You either have it or you don't and the school systems of today, along with the teachers, are sorely lacking! Truly morons!

I don't blame the teachers in anyway it's the state or whoever decides what the students need to learn. I worked for years in the restaurant industry and about 10 years ago no kid could ever count back change if the computer or register didn't tell them what changed they had to get back they would panic. not the teachers fault it's not mandated for them to learn, so I am to assume. but on the other hand there's a 5 year old that can run a computer better than some 30 year olds. if they had to teach everything that everybody thinks they should have to, it would take 16+ years to go thru school not 13.
Still need info on how to get info about this.

How does a parent of a student in the DeSoto school district still have questions regarding Standards Based Grading with all the information that has been communicated about this. Oh wait, there was very little (almost none)! It seems like they wanted to keep it a secret from the parents.

The best way to get rid of Standards Based Grading would be to get rid of the person that brought it to our school district, Dr. Stryhal. Getting rid of her would be the second best thing for our district since the firing of Andy Arbeitman. She came here from the Festus District and I am certain they did not buy into the B.S. of Standards Based Grading. I have attended many board meetings and listened to her ridiculous presentations with her phony charts and graphs, they are meaningless. There is no college or university anywhere that will ask your student for their SBG scores. The only scores they are interested in are your student's GPA and ACT. Dr. Stryhal is tax dollars down the drain.

Bill: SB 210
Sponsor: Lamping, John
Status: S Education
Description: Require legislative approval for the Education Department to adopt any statewide education standards.
See: Official legislative description and status

Let Senator Lamping know where you stand on this. and help get Missouri out of this illegal agenda.
The need is great for teachers and other school staff to speak up, because the supporters are saying everyone is happy with this. There is a fear of backlash and loss of jobs, if some speak up.
But one can remain anonymous if needed.
