I have many friends that have purchased homes within the past 5 years and all have sided with the Columbus taxes / Hilliard city schools.

This is because the Columbus taxes are much cheaper than Hilliards.

This issue should be resolved.

Perfect example. Look on the corner of Roberts Rd and Rome-Hilliard rd.
They put up Bayside on Rome-Hilliard and Country Ridge apartments on Roberts. Both, are government assistance. What they bring is CPD and violence to the area weekly!!

Hilliard does not want this!!
Lets see what would happen if Columbus tried to do this in Dublin!

So on behalf of one of "those" people that live in Columbus limits but have rights to Hilliard Schools let me just say that you should try to consider the position that we are in with this situation. There are lots of reasons why this sucks for everyone involved. We bought our house because there was an advantage to paying the Columbus taxes sure, but more importantly we were always going to position ourselves in the Hilliard School District. This was just a perk and something the city offered. As a homeowner that is going to be affected by this Section 8 crap, and a phase 1 homeowner in this development I can tell you that my house went up for sale today. I cannot put my children in this position nor will I allow my house to lose its total value becuase of the choices made my Mary Jo Kilroy and the Ohio Housing Project. I think I speak for the entire community when I say that we have yet again been screwed by Dominion and all the crap they have put us through. We are doing everything we can to stop this if we can or at least attempt to. Non of us are looking forward to the prospect of this coming to our neighborhood!
Moving out of Dominion

We purchased our home this past summer and were assured that there would not be any people living in the area other than homeowners. Dominion homes said that they would not allow investors to come in and either build multiple units to rent out or purchase multiple townhome units to rent out. Dominion flat out LIED to us simply to get the sale. We chose this area because of the school district and did not want our daughter going to Columbus Public schools due to the severe overcrowding and lack of care for the students. If this planned "Enclave at Hilliard Run" gets approved, we are moving out! No matter what the cost is to us, my husband and I would rather foreclose on our home or take a loss in a sale than live in a section 8 community!!

To the previous two people who posted about selling/foreclosing, how do you expect to sell your house when you can buy a brand new one and the people will probably get a better price on it? What really needs to happen is bad press! Right across I70, they have plenty of space and that is Columbus school district. Norwich township needs to create a ton of buzz and slam the company for lying to the people who live in the community! I smell a class-action lawsuit for all these people being lied to!

I can sell it for a better price because I bought long enough ago and made my payments. And for those of you that live in this development and think that pulling the media into this is a good idea well all I can say is you must be in a no win situation. The only people that helps are the people that bought in the last year. Those of us that bought in the first year or two that this community was established have a chance to get out. The problem is there are some whistle blowers that only want to look out for themselves. Sure lets sue Dominion but does it matter if it happens now or in a year....not really. Furthermore, word on the street is that Dominion is filing bankruptcy in the coming weeks so I guess that will be pointless as well. So go ahead call your news and radio stations let them know what a__holes Dominion is, and in the meantime, do exactly what good neighbors shouldn't and screw the few of us that have a chance.

It's hard to believe your home actually went up in value..but if it did, than the Village of Hilliard Run is a great place to be. However, then your realtor should legally have to tell your interested buyers that a Section 8 housing is being put in when it is official. It is to be official by April 19th, so if you can sell your house by then, good luck! Since it is just proposed right now, you have a fighting chance to make sure it doesn't become official.

My house didn't go up in value, I simply didn't over pay for it. I may not make a dime on the deal but I will be out! Furthermore there is nothing in the paperwork that has to be disclosed about what the builder is building. Just like Dominion screwed us, I will allow it to be someone elses problem. In parting I must say that I find it hilarious that we are all supposed to come together as a community to fight this as a group. Sounds to me like the people who are stuck only want to help themselves. Screw those of us that do have a fighting chance of getting out.

I am a resident at Village at Hilliard Run.

What we need to do is organize in a calm manner. We need to get all the parties in a room to discuss the facts. Start with calling Mary Jo Kilroy's office to get her involved. Then call Mayor Coleman's office and get him involved.

Also, in looking at the homeowners bylaws which we signed (my copy is dated March 12, 2008 and signed by Matthew Callahan of Dominion), the building of rental units (Section 8 or not) is in direct violation of the Amended and Restated Declaration of Covenants, Easements, Restrictions, Assessments and Assessment Liens for Village at Hilliard Run, Page 27, Section 9.1 Use of Lots.

If someone wants to contact a housing attorney to get their opinion of the recourse of homeowners in the division, that probably is a good idea.

Stay involved but also stay calm.

I have contacted an attorney and they have a copy of our bylaws and are reviewing them currently to let us know what our options are. Mary Jo Kilroy supported this plan and conveniently the downtown that we need to contact are out till the 19th of April (right at our deadline). What we needed to do was work together as a community to do what was best for everyone not just certain individuals. I believe that went out the window yesterday with the interview on channel 4. I didn't know we had a community spokesperson!

I was under the impression that this deal had fallen through. Dominion handed out letters yesterday, Monday 4/12, stating that the deal was off. It was signed and dated by Dominion's VP. We talked to the sales lady and she stated the same thing....that the deal was off. She also has copies of the letter to hand out. She also stated that "only town homes or single family would be put back there" and "no rentals".

If Dominion is saying all this and still doing it, then they have a whole new set of problems.....

Sorry you want to just leave and have the problem settle on the rest of us. Put your effort into this fight and it won't happen now or in the future. Sorry timing isn't perfect for you but everyone can't be satisfied. It is not abpout profit. I want to sell soon also but this is more important. Stand up and fight, please.

Look for more information in Dispatch. A reporter was out here yesterday doing interviews. Dominion hasn't given up? As far as Timberbrook is concerned they are affected as much as we are. Hope they get engaged and involved. Attorney general's office has been contacted as they have interest in deceptive sales practices involving consumers. Please contact them. Zoning doesn't concern them but promises made by Dominion to customers does. This makes no sense on Dominion's part. Dominion has the most $$$$ too lose. I don't know who was involved in the decision in the first place but hopefully they will get fired. Dominion will not return calls so I believe this is not a completely settled. Columbus Housing Partnership is getting legal advice. After all, they have spent a large sum of money of planning and putting the original proposal together. Don't let up on the pressure.

Memphis ,TN This was part of article in their newspaper in 2008:
In the meantime, Betts, who called Memphis "the ultimate urban laboratory," was compiling statistics about the areas of Memphis where low-income renters, backed up by Section 8 vouchers, had moved. Early this year, somewhat uneasily, the couple decided to compare their maps, one of crime statistics, the other of clusters of Section 8 voucher renters. To their dismay, the charts largely coincided.
Also check out Ames, Iowa. They tried to map the same thing and a court ordered n injunction against it. Their crime is skyrocketing. Google Section 8 and crime statistics.

Why did Dominion try and build these section 8 apartments when it will cost Dominion big money in lost value of their homes yet unsold?
Why doesn't city council members answer emails?
Why doesn't Ohio Attorney General's office investigate?
Why doesn't Mayor Coleman answer ?
Why doesn't Mary jo Kilroy answer?
Remember these "helpful elected officials" next election! Vote everyone out of office

Hold on people. Why such anger? I am a nurse and my husband is a electronic tech (along with a few other degrees). In this economy it is about impossible to purchase a home in Hilliard or, anywhere else for that matter. I see the Enclave, as a good oppurtunity for working families. Section 8 is a pain. I hope they don't accept it. Hopefully it will be income based. Hilliard needs to build new affordable homes and apartments anyway. Hilliard is so stuck in the stoneage. Thank God, I will bw moving to Alaska, soon, anyway. That's another reason to rent temporarily and not buy. Some people don't need a handout, just a helping hand. So get over yourselves people.

I may purchase a town home in Hayden Run as I placed a deposit down on a unit today. They made me aware of this and I planned on researching it.

Does anyone have any new information on this, is it going to happen?

The price that was offered was the first red flag as they wanted to dump it and get out.
