I have seen many threads today talking badly about Martin Luther King, Jr. I won't call him "MLK" for short, as he should be addressed in his full name. Today is not just a holiday for people to be off work. That's sickening that people are saying, "YAY, a day off of work because of that n....." How dare you people that are saying this. He was a great man and I, just as I have posted in other threads, am white. This man gave his life to push the movement for the black people. He deserves recognition for all the good he did in his life. He was, is, and will always be in the hearts of those that respect the changes he made for this country. People should start thinking about their own lives, especially if you are white. We have it made compared to what the black people have to go through, even today. It's NOT right! White people should not be considered the superior race. Truly none of us are completely white to begin with. We all have a little mix of something in us. Tell me one full fledged white person you know. They may look white, but their not, as far as heritage goes. Stop all the hate and grow up people. This is 2013 and it's still going on and it makes not only those that are acting this way look very narrow-minded, but you are also a representation of our country. Give Martin Luther King, Jr. the respect and love he deserves. He did more than any of us on "Topix" has ever done.

Martin Luther King is a great man. Not just for integration, which he is clearly right over, but for Unions, and Anti-War views, and his campaign against poverty. Martin Luther King died for the right to unionize and organize, and we should judge folks based on their character, not the color of their skin... that's just obvious. Of course you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Of course. That's obvious... it's like talking to a bunch of children on here.

John,he was a great man,who taught love to overthrow hate. But sometimes hate hardens people and they act on it....and the world lost a good man at a young age.Not everyone on here acts like children John :).

I know Sandy, but you even admitted that there were folks who posted good posts, informative, interesting, no disruptful racial slurs... and then they got tired of the children being children, and so they left... I can't but help that it's our fault.

Ronnie Lee Smith was getting bullied on topix and he asked for help on fb, and nobody came to his defense... people just watch... there was this one video of this little girl getting abducted, a fake video, a set up, but white folks walked by, and only black folks stopped to help that poor girl. I got 15,000 signatures for Ralph Nader, and on that campaign, as well as getting 5,000 members for Working America AFLCIO, and when I came to a black person, they were excited and happy to sign something for somebody. It wasn't a big deal, and they knew it. They just wanted to help... but white folks... 50% of them sk'd. I'd say 95 to 99% of the time, black folks would sign a petition. My cousins I loved hte most, were the Lemmings, and b/c it was wild and crazy... there were so many children, running around everywhere, but they were poor, and their mama was alone, and ran her house w/ an iron fist, probably had all those kids to make them slaves for their farms, and then they take the land and farm for themselves, and think they can kick their children to the curb... but b/c of their racism, they couldn't see their enslavement, and uncle toms would rather attack hte protester, and not the tyrant, let the victim burn, while the bully delights w/ glee at their harassing nature... just so dismissive, and non-validating... 31 years old, and just figuring out u aint love'd. U know what I mean? Maybe u dont... IDK. For what's it worth, I think I like all yall more than anybody I know.

But back to my story.. I didn't speak up for Ronnie, and now he's on the run, like John Robert Boone... at least he ain't dead, like Tony Gripshover, but still. MLK also said that the stains of gettin dirty by fightin back dont hurt as bad as the stains u get on ur soul, when u just watch, and dont do nothing about it.

MLK passed Civil Rights Act here in Frankfort when he marched, I heard he was in the West End too, Hunter S Thompson, Ashley Judd, George Clooney... there's anti-racist countercurrents in KKKentucKKKe that give me hope... but I'm not seeing enuf antiracists out here. Im a unique individual I suppose, and I'll stand proudly in my isolation, b/c I know I'm right.
