They should have to pay corporate income taxes like all other big companies.

megachurches are a disgusting abuse of peoples faith. they suck the members dry, brainwash them into a "no flock is as good as our flock" mentality.
Instead of spending tens of millions on a church, pool your resources and do something really christian, help people right here in our country who need help.

I agree with csd619 also. If all the megachurches, and churches that espouse a political stand had to pay taxes we could reduce overall income taxes by probably 20%, and still use the money to do really Christian works like helping the people in Darfur, or providing shelter, food and clothing for our homeless and less fortunate.

Northside Christian Church in southern Indiana, or as my wife I like to call it "6 flags over Jesus", has grown so much that they church is beginning to rival the size of the college in town as far as the campus goes.
the members have become so spoiled that they now have uniformed police officers in marked patrol cars blocking routine traffic on a state highway before and after the services to let the "flock" come and go with ease.
If this church is sooooo wealthy that they can triple the size of their "worship campus" in a couple of years, and pay police officers (usually 6 of them, and I hope they are paying for the OT, not the taxpayers), then they should be wealthy enough to pay for the installation, operation, and maintenance on automatic traffic lights. But to have the police block a state highway several times a week for a church? WTF?

Yes but religious believe, Christianity and church attendance is declining. The Christians are just attending larger churches because of the big God shows THE big churches are more about entertainment purposes.

The church didn't fall out of the sky. They fleeced the flock of millions and millions of dollars to build the country club for Christians. Then they claimed that God had somehow magically built the church. How about spending multi millions to feed, clothe and provide shelter to the poor and homeless? Isn't that a what would Jesus do kinda thing?

I have a message for Southeast Christian Country Club members. The message is from Jesus.
Matthew 19:21New International Version (NIV)
21 Jesus answered,“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
You guys are pretty smart. Figure out what Jesus is saying to you. Think about it from your exclusive Christian Country Club as you gaze out on poor and destitute that surround you. Think about it as they pass the collection plates. But more than that, picture yourself as a hungry, homeless person gazing up from your lowly positon at the massive Christian castle with the gleaming cross on top that is Southeast Christian’s Church’s main building on its campus. How does it look to you now? Think about that just before you drop the check into the plate. Or do they do most of their flock fleecing through the electronic funds transfer system now?

Some of the most fun kinksters I know belong to, THE MEGACHURCH. I'm not mentioning that to shame them, they're all wonderful people. But, it does seem to me that the bigger the church the less contrition one is obligated to express so, if your looking for a good power sub don't pass over your neighborhood, MEGACHURCH.

I understand the Christian Country club Christians. They look down on the unsaved/ non Christian world around them from their mansion on their heavily hill with a lofty distane. I have more respect for the poor Christian volunteering at the soup kitchen or the missionary in a third world country helping provide food, shelter and even safe water to drink for the poor. I actually know someone that does both.

I think the Amish take turns having church in their homes..seems like a good thing to me....I know I have no right to judge anyone...but joel osteens church does not have a cross anywhere..not outside..not inside....the cross is the symbol of what being a Christian means...where Jesus died for all of our sins...and to me it seems like some mega churches seem to sugar coat things...and preach prosperity..,,sad to think that making tons of money is some peoples main goal.....I am just struggling trying to be a better person than I was yesterday and if I can help others along the way..then I am grateful to do so....but what I have seen of some mega churches, I don't want any part of.... some years ago I attended a really large church in Kansas city, mo. a few times while I was staying in Kansas city and it was amazing...people of all ages...rich and poor...but, all I saw was treir souls...I cant remember the name of the church and don't know if its a mega church now...that was over twenty years ago.....I was reading what a man said that was involved with joel osteens church..some of his comments said people can enter a drawing to win tickets for a meet and greet after church services with pastor osteen...and he was doing construction work at the apartment that is inside the church bldg. for the osteens and he was working in the bathroom and on the vanity was a tiny Q Tip holder with a price tag of $ 250.00 neiman marcus....just seems absurd
