Ok people, does your city need to bring in a police chief that is young willing to help your city and as bigger city exprience under his belt. The chief you have now is doing nothing. I know the perfect person for the job and if it ever comes open I am going to tell him to apply for it and I will support him all the way till the city hires him. Tell me what you think and your concerns

I just noticed that HIghlandville had an ad in the paper for a cheif and officers. What is going on up there. Guess there must be some problems going on. Don't know much about HIghlandville but I would like to learn more and I do know some guys that might be interested in the officer jobs. Anyone know how many officers they are hiring?

They have one officer and one chief. Officer makes around 18,000 a year and cheif makes like 22,000 a year. Not much at all

It`s a shame that 160 has to run through Highlandville. Otherwise I would have no need to go there. Don`t know if the people in Highlandville know it, but your neighbors get quite a kick out of your comedy acts. Let`s see, City Hall, sewer permits and how their reserved, sewer in general, preferred developers, water or that ticket trap stop light,(right turn signal - give me a break). But the topic at hand is law enforcement. Highlandville is the only town I know of where you routinely have to dodge City Police so as not to run over them. Failure to signal, U-turns out of the blue with no thought for on coming or following traffic, their a hazzard. And they will continue to be as long as city leaders choose to hire the cheepest. (there`s a reason why they are) On the other hand they fit in nicely with the rest of your City Government.

Thought I would check back. This must really be a burning issue with all the posts concerning it. I have a question though, in the title -- "young and experienced" seems to be somewhat of a contidiction don`t you think. Go figure.

The problem is that no one in the city really wants a police department otherwise when they hire a police chief they would let him or her do their job and they would pay for one with some experiance in police administration.

Well, if you don`t want a police dept., why do you have one. All they do is annoy those of us who have to travel thru there. But I forgot, revenue. You you have to pay for your experiment in futility. Highlandville, grow up, and get out of our way. You`all do what ever you want to with your leaders, thats fine, enjoy. But their starting to annoy the rest of us. If you want to understand your police dept. and what it needs, call the Mo. State Hwy. Patrol. Have them sit alongside 160 and watch batmans car run up and down the road, trolling for revenue. Maybe they could give you some advice, if you would take it. Probabaly not, it would no doubt be constructive.

Just to clear things up I was not meaning any disrespect to K-9 officer. I interpreted his comments as negative toward the "new guy" in Rockaway Beach. I sounded like to me that K-9 Officer is being sucked into the same Highlandville crap that you guys were referencing. Just a side note: I dont know much about Highlandville but a girl I work with lives there, she says the whole city government is ran by a bunch of criminals. She said the Mayor is a total snake and the city administrator recently was picked up for DWI! FOUND THIS ON A ROCKAWAY BEACH TOPIX SITE>>>>THERS IS MORE THEY ARE REALLY BASHING YOUR TOWN> DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHY OFFICER DAFF WAS LET GO?

I am sickened by the childishness of people posting such nasty things about other people, other cities, etc. The people posting these things must be young because it is so so childish and really just rude and disrespectful. I was always taught by my parents that if you couldn't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Apparently, more parents should have taught this to their children. What's even worse is that whoever you people are, you don't really even know what you are talking about. All you are doing is spreading rumors, and that is a FACT. Why do you want to hurt people you don't even know, or even people you do know for that matter. If you have a problem with someone, why don't you grow up and go to them and talk to them face to face. If there is someone committing criminal activity in a city as loves highlandville alleges, go to the proper authorities and get the matter resolved rather than make accusations and spreading rumors. It is my guess that loves highlandville has no idea what they are talking about or they would do just that. People that want to talk and spread rumors are nothing buy cowards. They don't want to be known because they are doing nothing but just that, spreading rumors. It's time to GROW UP people, it really is, and maybe take a good look in the mirror!

Well we have a problem here since I was taught by my parents to always tell the truth. What should I do, talk nice, or tell the truth? I would love for you to answer some of my earlier posts. So please do, but don`t be nice, tell the truth.

You complain you are bothered while traveling through Highlandville.
Traveler here is the truth. DON'T SPEED AND YOU WILL NOT BE BOTHERED BY THE POLICE. I AM SURE THERE IS ANOTHER ROUTE YOU CAN DRIVE TO AVOID HIGHLANDVILLE.

I drive through Highlandville every day and have never been stopped by their law enforcement officer(s). However, I have had a couple of instances where "Barney Fife" has done an unsafe U-turn right in front of me, causing me to slam on my brakes, just to catch a speeder going the opposite direction. One time he was going so fast that he "fish-tailed" when he turned and almost went down the opposite imbankment. My 16 year old, who was a new driver, was with me and we both were amazed at what we had just witnessed ( it was like a scene from "Dukes of Hazzard"). I told my child to always be watching for the police cars when traveling through that area and to stay as far back as possible if following one because they were going to cause an accident pulling stupid stunts like the one we had just seen.

Hwy. 160 is a major highway which happens to go through Highlandville. Why should people change their travel route from a major road to winding country roads just to avoid the local police? Maybe it is not the speeding tickets that Traveler is complaining about, maybe it is the way the local police are driving when out on their patrol that Traveler is complaining about.

Lets see the speed limit is 60 mph. If you were atleast 6 cars lengths behind the officer when he put on his breaks to make his u turn is which legal by state law (to make a turn to stop violators). You would not have had to slam on yours. Just remember no one likes the police until they need the police at which time that person is mad because the police did not get their fast enough.

How many times, when you are driving down the road, do you witness a car following another car at least 6 car lenghts behind? There is the perfect world and then there is the real world. I am not an unsafe driver. The patrol car actually went over to the shoulder of the road on the side he was traveling on ( which was in front of me) and then did a U-turn. I am not a mind reader, how was I to know that he was going to do a U-turn when he had his right turn signal on signaling that he was going to the shoulder.(At least he had his turn signal this time. I have witnessed times when left turns have been made by the patrol suburban that no turn signal was displayed.) And no lights were on until he started going in the opposite direction after the violator.

I am not against all Law Enforcement. I know some very good law enforcement people, and I have taken the time to get to know them so that they know who I am, who would help me in an instant. Highlandville police have no jurisdiction where we live. But, while they are "patrolling" 160 Hwy. looking for speeders, they are loosing respect in the surrounding communities. If you want to wear a badge and a gun for a living then you will be scrutinized.

You are going to exprience that from officers that have hardly any training. Their new Chief has never been a road cop before. He worked in jails and then served papers. So tell me this, does that make him worthy of being a police chief. They are going to kill someone and if it is someone in my family I will own that city
