I tried doing the plastics before and I would like to do it more often, however you would need a pretty big container for it all. I guess another option is to carry it down to the recycle bins at the library more often. Are the recycling bins back? |
Never have, but probably should start. Good for you, Big Ed.

I got a laundry hamper at walmart, after I empty it this time I'll line it with a plastic kitchen bag. When it's full it's gone. The bins are not back at the library but the bins at HEB accept plastic and metal together. Haven't figured that out yet. |

The bins at the library were removed temporarily because citizens were using them for disposing of trash. I recycle paper, plastic and aluminum cans the actual garbage is reduced.

The bins may be back. After the football game Friday night there was a large light-up sign there saying "No Hurricane Debris". It was dark so I could not see the bins but I don't know why they would put the sign up if the bins are not there.

Thats agood idea Big Ed, my roomate gets the newspaper every day and every type of magazine you can imagine, so if anyone knows where I can drop these off please let me know. |

i recently learned that the contents of the recycling bins are not recycled at all but are actually disposed of like all of the regular trash at the transfer station. so, although one's intentions may be good, they may be for naught.

This is the type of information that is needed. We do need absolute proof of your claim. |
Yes, how do you know this for sure? |
There is a recycle bin at Deer Park Ele for paper. |
How quickly is it filling up? |
About twice a week. I have a large pen of hens here. |
well, from what i understand, this has been going on for quite a while so i'm sure there are many employees who are aware of it. of course i'm not going to single out anyone for fear of retaliation against their whisle-blower actions.

justhappenedtoknow, first you recently learned and now you understand. Could we have something substantial. This is not rocket science its recycling. If its bogus let us know.
Thanks for the info. Ok, before anyone has a chance to bowl you over, how about I call the transfer station and ask what happens with the recycled goods. Tune in tomorrow folks. |

sounds good pop, just remember that it is the EMPLOYEES who are in the know, the ones who perform the work and not the ones that delegate it.
If your claim is true then a supervisor somewhere knows of this action. |
The people at the transfer station will know. So you are saying a DP city truck hooks up to the recycle bin/trailer hauls it off to the DP city transfer station? Or is this done by another vendor. Just trying to clarify. |
I think this topic is going off track.....again. |
