npoan - hoa

I received a letter about a very miniscule infraction and then another, nastier letter one week later, since I was out of town when the first one arrived and clearly didn't repair the problem in NPOAN's time limit. I didn't even notice the problem, until the letter, but promptly fixed regardless.
Once I received the letter, I started documenting other, more obvious violations of the deed restrictions. This was over 4 months ago. I've noticed that most of the other violations have yet to be addressed and I find it hard to believe that someone would willingly pay fines month after month, as opposed to moving their boat or fixing their roof or replacing rotted wood that is visible from the road.
Don't get me wrong... I appreciate that the HOA is there to ensure that our neighborhood is aesthetically pleasing, however, if they are going to send out notices of violations, shouldn't they be a little more uniform about it and address ALL of the problems??
I could list addresses and obvious violations for at least 30 homes, but NOTHING has been done about them. Are they just not receiving the nasty grams from NPOAN or are these same people just happily paying their fines for violating the rules??

This "self-management" ruse the NPOAN is now implementing will land the residents in the same position as before the rise of the NPOAN!
The NPOAN is a developer led organization whose only function is to benefit/sustain the developer in Newport....not the residents.
There is no oversight or transparency.
It's time the residents vote out the NPOAN.

Newport and Indian Shores are 2 of the worst HOA's in the state. Once an individual is singled out he/she is F**Ked. Very common for a person to be citationed for minor infractions while being surrounded by dozens of homeowners with multiple vioalations in plain site and no consequences levied against them.
There is limited recourse homeowners have in combating these idiotic HOA members.

There is one lady in Newport who has gone up against the NPOAN all the way to the Tx Supreme Court twice!!!! and won!
Let me tell you all that the developer is going to siphon every dime out of Newport unless the residents vote out this POA>
The "POA manager" is the developer's Vice President.
Just take a good look at the office space they are renting in Channelview at $14 per sq ft. It is a board member's building....Pilkington.
The avg commercial space rental in Crosby is less than $11 per sq ft.
How about that?
The newspaper in Crosby is gagged from reporting any of this.

I constantly get letters for stupid crap too. I have lived there for 2 years and can not stand it any longer. My neighbors have a dog on a runner who barks all the time, they never bring their trash cans in, always have 3 or 4 cars parked in the road and have parties til the wee hours of the morning. I have called and complained numerous times but you know what happens?? I get a letter 2 days later saying that my grass is growing over my curb. Seriously?? That's place sucks and I can't wait to move the hell out!

You don't need the POA to do something about it
You can take the offending neighbor to small claims court
All others concerned about the Newport subdivision need to start attending the NPOAN meetings and ask questions (demand answers)
How much has the NPOAN spent in these letters and legal costs?
Why is it I had a huge hassle about my building setback lines and the new house going up on S Diamondhead seems to be only 10 ft from the wall of the next door residence NOT the property line!
This property doesn't seem to have ANY setback line at all!
The same goes for that model home at the stop sign at S. Diamondhead and Port O'Call

Everyone who has gotten a letter from this NPOAN should tie a green ribbon to their mail box as an informal poll/protest. I think the residents are more resistant than what is thought.
Other than this POA, Newport and Crosby is a great place to live.

For all the residents of New Port Crosby, TX. I have heard they are closing the stables in New Port. The boarders have til Aug. 31st 2011 to get their belongings and horses out. It was a board decision. There was no vote by the residents. This means they can vote to close any amenity with out a vote or say from the residents. Just thought every one should know you have no say if you live in New Port.

If homeowner has Home Insurance (say home is over 30 years old between two newer house of 10 years or less? A tree fell on there roof of this old house Oct 2013. Home Insurance has not fixed the home (if they have Insurance) The family is messy. Leaves trash in the yard front and back. they have been this way since they moved in last Spring of 2013 the last 5 months. What the heck is taking so long? They have this ugly beat up tarp throughout the entire winter months. Heating coming out the broken roof. How can they stand to live like that. I am trying to sell my home now and with this next door to me. My home will drop in profit. HOA where are you????. My house looks like a doll house compared to this old house. What was I thinking when I bought my house next to this older home. and in the last 7 years there have been 5 renters until the house sold cheap. HOA needs to step in. to have owner modify home and clean up their yard.
