They have the capability to track you, but it is a cumbersome, time consuming, task. The managers don't have the time to do it. They like to play with your mind about it though. You usually have to be actually "observed" being somewhere you aren't supposed to be, in order for management to actually invest the time and effort in messing with you. Even then, they will confront you about it before they waste time with gps. Most managers are all right. If you have to go off-course for some reason. Call your manager first and officially ask for permission. The odds are the answer will be yes.

I never tried it, but I think that the Billy Mays arm magnetic vecro tool holder might be better, Seems to be a very good invention.

Don't piss anyone off. I pissed off our MSOC coach and they pulled vts on me for the day. I had to answer to why I stopped at a parking lot down the street for 7 minutes after I had left the shop. We were always told to get out of the lot by 24 minutes after the start of the shift and we can make our calls from somewhere else if need be. This particular occasion I had called my customer from the shop and found out that nobody 18 would be home, so I drove down the street to jep the job and pick up another one. My steward sold me out and agreed that I should take care of that on company property. Just watch yourself.

Very common practice of pulling VtS here in CA, they seem to find the time to do it very often, If your numbers are not at 100% they will tell you that you are sticking out like a sore thumb, and constantly comparing you with other "Chosen employees" and inspite of you telling them about your valid roadblocks, they tell you that they are pulling Your GPS, and even though you can justify every minute, they put you in a very nervous and defensive situation when they review it with you in the morning, they have pulled so many of us in for VTS, They put a guy on a final warning for doing 65mph in a 70mph zone on a freeway going to his first install. They are out of control with this big brother is watching crap, its a hard day, You got the customer watching your every move, then when you finally get in your truck and go, you got management up your ass with spy glasses, management thinks this is one perverted video game at our expense.

They get a little obnoxious with that here, The use of the Tracking is emphasized and reminded to the crew cronically, the crew as a whole is never abusive of roaming, there just isnt any time, I was put on the hot seat in the field and was told they were pulling the VTS, I was so insulted, I was idle at a crossbox multitasking, dispatching, Metal Brain Break and timesheet updating, they here want your timesheet updated in real time on the IFD, Drives me crazy???, So in response I told them that Yea I am at a gentlemens club and my truck is parked in the back, and Disconnected my phone, They walk the the line in harrassment on this componet, I really drives me to the looney bin!

Here in the Southeast we work from the NID or ONI into the house. We do no outside work at all. Everywhere else in the country you are working from the X-box in right? Are you hanging drop or laying BSW and mounting NIDS on new installs? Are you fixing pairs in the field on troubles? What does your X-Box to the home job duties consist of besides running the jumper in the X-Box. I am a Prem Tech here and was an outside I&R Service Tech before so I am just wondering because I have done all of it. I feel the the premise tech here will soon go from the X-box in once they finally sign a contract. How many installs and troubles do they expect from you per day while working box in in let's say a 8-12 hour shift? Thanks just wondering, any info appreciated.

They have us kind of overlapping mst work, we work from FACS ASGN F2,F3, At the XBOX we Pull POTS T&R, And Jump to the VRAD, We dont do Drops, LST's, or Pole Climbing,(as Of Yet) We do Everything Else From The Drop, About 20% Installs Are FTTP, The rest is copper, some very old With Lead that wont support Uverse Signal,I am not totally sure when, But we will be Doing The drops, ariel & underground Bridge Taps, The MST's here are being surplused, and are forced into PT, We pretty much will be doing every aspect of Res Class svc that MST's Do, And We are really hurting those vets, it's a shame, they are vested being screwed by their own brothers, Aso Union here, the new contact left it wide open for PT's to climb & do Drops, also will be installing Direct TV Satellite as well. Amazing I'm still here, I will quit before I monkey satellite dishes, I drew the line at attics, Pole climbing is not a problem, I was Pole Qualified Bellcore 15 years ago. But do not want to do that anymore, Getting too old for that now, Too much Arthritis.

Can anyone actually say they enjoy the work enviroment anywhere in the Prem Tech world? I just can't see putting up with this Management crap day in and day out much longer. Honestly, how can they expect Tech's to deal with being treated like this day to day, month to month, year to year? It will turn you into a raving lunatic dealing with these Management types!

I haven't met anyone in my yard who actually seriously dislikes their job. Everyone has complaints, but I haven't heard anyone actually hate it. Not every manager is an ass, and that will obviously effect your work experience.
