Art Van is a rip off!I've been fighting with the Taylor one for a year about my Kings Down mattress.I paid $1300 for this piece of shit, that the sales associate said was a good bed and according to the fricking "diagnostic machine" was supposed recommend the right one. What a a fricking joke.I've had "technicians out here three times going on a fourth. They claim it to be a comfort issue...BULLSHIT!My back and neck has continually gotten worse, everyday i wake up in pain.I have a fricking warranty for god's sake. They still won't accomidate me.I've tried to contact the "kings down" company and of course they won't answer the phone.Next step is to go to Art Van in Taylor and stand on the front lawn(someone want to join me).Or,take them to claims court! Is Art Van a real person or what cause I can't talk to him personally.I agree with Mark from aol,he's a fat pimpand should be ashamed of himself.I hope he goes to HELL and I don't mean Hell Mi.

I would suggest taking a public speaking or writing class. Then educate yourself further. It will take a bit of work to win a case of this merit. You mistake a warranty with a comfort guarantee. Waranty covers workmanship not the comfort of the mattress.

I would suggest not picketing. You can be charged with slander for making wrongful public accusations.

I have been in sales for many years and have heard most of the arguments from dissatisfied customers. Most times these same customers have demanded lower prices and better service. You can't have it both ways. When you buy cheap you get cheap. In all of the above comments I don't see anything about purchasing the best quality. AlsoI'd like to add Art Van is entitled to his wealth. Consider his investment, the amount of taxes paid and the number of people he employes. Stop your whining and start expecting the results and product performance that is related to the price you are prepared to pay.

We are on our 3rd kingsdown mattress in just over a year due to defect of the mattress. Yes we too did the computerized thing, along with $40.00 for the comfort guarantee and both beds at the head would gradually lower on my husbands side to finally he had to sleep at the opposite end. Oh yeah, this was a $2800.00 bed. The warranty customer service is horrible to deal with. The first bed they assured me this NEVER happens. Oh yeah and when they gave me a delivery date for bed #3, they forgot about us. Lastly, upon delivery of bed #3, they brought in the wrong mattress, took it out of the bag, and never realized it until my husband stopped them backing out of the driveway and they brought in the correct one. Are you kiding me. Something tells me this isn't the end to my story.

I also purchased a King's Down mattress set about 8 years ago from Art Van in Westland. I have back problems and have had 2 back surgeries. A mattress is not a cure or treatment if you have existing back / neck issues. I still have pain but I don't think I can blame the mattress for it. The mattress is a high quality product and I have not have any issues with it despite being a very heavy person. You may want to look into buying a mattress "topper" to correct the comfort level to your liking, either firmer or softer. Good luck.

I must agree with the initial post. People have to realize this company is up for any possible scheme to make costumes buy their furniture. I bought a leather sofa along with the warranty and they called me a liar too when I told them I have been using the protection, once my sofa begin to deteriorate. They do stand buy their initial offer, BUT will find any possible excuse to not fulfill their customers requests after buying furniture/warranty. I suggest doing what one person said about reupholstering old furniture. It's probably your best bet.

I'm having a very similar problem with the Art Van in Port Huron. We bought leather sectional for around 1400.00, spent 2500.00 in that trip. Now less than 12 months the color is "rubbing off". Yes, we used the protectant and the conditioner and it still did it. Warranty says it won't cover it. So now we are contacting the store manager. 1400.00 and it lasted less than 1 year. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Come hell or high water someone's going to fix this or I will take every avenue possible to blast out a negative message about how Art Van does business. I'm talking newpapers, internet, anything possible. To be continued...
Are you really that ignorant? News Flash. Anything that has a "dye" in it, comes with the possibility of that happening. A dye is exactly that, A DYE! Do you think the leather came from a Green cow, or what ever color your furniture is dyed??

We had an excellent experience at the Art Van store in Taylor. Our salesperson, Nelda, was very knowledgeable and helped us make choices we are very happy with. In addition she allowed us time on our own to look around the entire(GIGANTIC) store and yet whenever we had a question it took just a few seconds to find her for an answer. She took time to teach us some key things to look for in furniture--things that differentiate a high quality item from one of lesser quality. We are so happy we went to Art Van and so happy our timing allowed us to find a super helpful and friendly saleswoman. We will certainly be back when we finish our basement and need more furniture. Also the 45 months same as cash is hard to beat.

General comment regarding quality.

Products made in third world countries in particular South Asia are of much superior quality than anything made in the USA. It can be custom made as you wish, is generally made of high quality solid wood like teek and is cheaper.

Unfortunately the stuff that is imported to the US is poor quality and over priced. Also furniture made in the USA is mediocre quality at best with ply and thin veneer. Unfortunately, lasting furniture is hard to come by here. Even Pottery Barn is no better than Art Van and is over priced. I would rather buy from Art Van for cheap and replace every five years. I get bored of the same decor after some time..

I would like to update my problem. Art Van replaced the seat cushions and re-died are love seat. It lasted about six months and the dye has warn off. We had called the service center numerous times and they said they would call us back. Well they never called us back. After 6 months we finally had a service person come out and they told us we had waited to long to have them come out....unbelievable! So we asked if they would redye the love seat and chair since they had dyed them previously....their answer NO! Said it was are fault....
If you are as bright as the way you write I have to go with Art Van. Have you ever heard of the work "our"? If you have you might try using it in place of are when appropriate.

I bought a Natuzzi leather couch and loveseat with The Leather Protection (provides an initial leather treatment, a 3 piece kit for maintaining your leather, and a 10 year warranty against staining, unnatural discoloration (does not include damage from sun light, fire damage, or dyes), and cracking while properly maintaining the leather.)from Art Van about eight years ago.
I have religiously maintained the leather with the care kit. The color on the seating area is now peeling up in a couple areas like paint lifting.
After a call and visit by one of their people, he determined that somehow it is my own fault, and that the leather on the back and arms appears dry. However, these are not the areas of my concern. He said they are shiny which indicates dryness. They have had that appearance since their arrival in my home. Like I stated, I have used the leather Care Kit they provide religiously. He also stated that I should have called for warranty work sooner.
So, warranty DENIED, despite falling under the 10 year period. Simply because the leather on the back and arms is slightly shiny, just like when I bought it, and I didn't call the minute the colored finish began to peel a few months ago.
I am beyond angry. I think ten years is a generous amount of time for a warranty, and even though I am nearing the end of my warranty period, it should still be valid. It isn't so generous when it's useless, anyway.
So now that I will be needing new furniture, I need to find somewhere else to go that sells quality and actually backs up their warranty.
