Louie and I were and item for a couple of years in our late teens, early 20's, and occasionally kept in touch for a few years after that. He was always very easy going, and was a very sensitive person. The end to our relationship was my own lack of maturity. Louie was always a gentleman. Opened doors for me, was very thoughtful and caring. He loves animals and nature. He is a very talented artist. A great strain on our relationship came when I became pregnant and we decided to have the baby. I had a miscarriage after 6 months, and had a very hard time dealing with it. Louie was wonderful through it all. I cannot imagine that he would ever INTENTIONALLY hurt anyone, or anything. I can only imagine that he somehow was manipulated into this, or he was lied to about the circumstances. We all make mistakes in this life. Some are more serious than others, but I am sure that on the part of this man, he must feel great remorse. People may change over the years, but how you are raised is a big part of the person you become, and to his mom I have this to say: I hope that you are doing well. I think of you often and wonder how you both are. You are in my prayers. I am sure you know who I am. All my love to you both.

Lou (or uncle lou as a lot of us called him) and pat - such as with the story from Nick - were an extended family for me when I was in my late teens and early 20's. I had a very rough period in my life, but both were always there for me. And just as Nick said, they fed me, let me crash on their couch (with the two sharpees waking me up in the morning) and helped me with any problem I ever had.

This is so unlike Louis it makes my head spin. It is still unfathomable that this is real.

My heart goes out to everyone involved.
