You all have your complaints but you don't realize you really are a piece of life that is missing in most of the country. We had to move to FL 8 years ago due to hubby's job and I would give anything to be back in your neck of the woods!

So where do you all think you will find a better piece of America? If Vernon is so bad where will you go next?

While I would agree mistakes have been made, Vernon is still a great place to live. The decision to cater to the then owners of Mountain Creek and extend the sewer system will continue to haunt us for years regardless of whether you view development as progress or as ruining what we have. Down the road we will also face the expansion of the holiday villages even though some of them like Stonehill are hardly that anymore. What we need is a period of consolidation.

I moved from Vernon to Essex County.

When I lived in Vernon, 30-35K miles per year on the car was the norm. Now I can walk/bike/use mass transit to get to work and errands. The car is rarely used. Running errands take minutes instead of hours. Taxes on my 3BR house are as much as taxes & mx fees were in Vernon. All around I say the cost evens out. What you'll pay in icreased home purchase/rental price you'll make up in gas/quality time savings.

And of course in Essex County you have the views of the oil refineries and the numerous superfund sites to tour.

As you claim to know all about everything surprised you do not already know the answer to that. In any event good luck in Essex County and good riddance.

Thats not an answer. Shall I ask again? Where exactly are these oil refineries in Essex County? I've never seen one. Ever.

Er ducky, we are talking "views" although the superfund sites in and around Newark are very real but an all knowing a***h*** like you must already know that right? Also, little doubt in my mind you did not relocate from Stonehill to Short Hills.

1) It is more of a correct statement to say that there are Superfund sites "in and around" Newark(including Orange, and a trucking depot in Fairfield)As it is also correct to state that Sussex County has its fair share of Superfund sites, including, but not limited to, Sparta, Byram, Franklin..... There are ZERO Superfund sites in my town, so I dont know what point your trying to make about Superfund sites, and I dont think you do either. Now, what about those oil refineries you spoke of? This is the third time I had to ask. I've never seen one.
