Great work Highlanders!!! You just fell for the oldest trick in the book. Give the school more money or they will shut down sports. They have pulled this bullshit for 40 years. And several years from now they will be asking for more again and threating to shut down the sports programs.

I guess when peoples property taxes are so high they cant afford to live in their own home people will finally wise up...

All the while admistrators and such enjoy huge salaries and sweetheart pensions none of the rest of us get.

I completely agree!!! I feel if school education was still in tact then they need to cut the budget and get creative, all the rest if us have! Totally pisses me off this passed but I am pissed Obama is still president too. Where did I miss that the last 4 years have been working? What is wrong with this country? Very frustrated as a taxpayer and good citizen. Ugh!!!!

Nothing matters anymore, personal responsibility had been discarded by the American public. From now on it is what will the government give me? I guess when all the taxpayers run out of money it will all be over...

The school might as well ask for 10 million next time, the 5 million passed easily...

Exactly my point genius... Why would 65% of people fall for the same old trick time and time again? Do you like higher taxes or are you a teacher?
not happy either

Why are you surprised about Obama getting re-elected? The country did the same thing when Bush was in office. Re-elected him and look what he did to this country. Now Obama is in there and he is no better. Sure wish that the Republicans would have found someone that would get us out of this mess we are in but they don't seem to have anyone to run against the guy who is in office now. It's a sad situation we are in in this country!!!!!

Uhh derrr... They trick us. Uggh I have
no brain.
I think we knew they would raise taxes. They did not trick us. At least I know my money is going to my children and the people that work hard to educate and coach them who are also WORKING people and TAX PAYERS. Why don't you write your state representatives and ask them why they are broke and not paying their portion to the school districts?? That is the real problem here. Why is it so difficult to understand?

This IS the problem, whether it be at a state level or a local level. Listen closely...

IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MUCH YOU GIVE THEM, IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH!!!

If you gave the school 100 million they would piss it away and be back to the taxpayer in a couple years. When is it enough? When do the tax increases stop? They will stop when there is no one left to tax...

TaxPayer.....I am not a teacher. I am a pretty staunch republican and a taxpayer like you.
Did you ever think that no one fell for any tricks here, they just feel some things are not worth paying more for?
Is it run perfect and could someone find more cost savings if looking very hear? YES. Is it worth me paying an extra $30 per year on my property tax. YES!

Maybe some day we will run out of tax money, who knows? I guess we will just have to steal from the rich & give to the poor.. Until then, I will invest my money in education and helping kids to become productive members of society. After high school, the bill is on me (college) and I will invest in that as well.

You know if I live beyond my means I cant go to my employer and ask for a raise. I have to cut my spending and do a better job of managing my budget. Why cant they?

You all do realize we got 5th out of 6 places in test scores? Maybe the answer is not more money but more competent people. In the real world you dont get more money for doing a bad job.

This is my entire point... Of course the 30 bucks is not the issue, it is the fact that it wont fix anything and then they will be back to the trough in several years. This has been going on for 40 years.

Also... So you think just because someone else has more than you that you "deserve" to have it??? That way of thinking has never worked in any society througout the history of mankind. Rising tides lift all ships. Taking from another when you dont deserve it only causes resentment and despair. Try and lift yourself up and not be dependent on the government. You will feel much better when you make your own progress.

Do standardized scores show you will become a successful adult?? I don't think they do at all. In fact I know lots of people that did very well on them and can barely keep a job.

So, you are saying we should not have schools at all then? Because educated people are really just dumb? Hope you are not raising kids.

Taxpayer - who said taking anything from anyone who has more? How did you get that out of my response? My kids actually go to a parochial school that I pay for myself, but I still believe in a good public educational system. It is called a society, it is what made America strong. Again, refer to the 65% approval of the bond. That is a democracy at work.

You are correct, but people need to understand that this is not a revenue problem it is a spending problem. Plain and simple.
