thats because no one from around here can properly build anything. take a look at all the junk buildings they built. all leak and under constant construction. have to elsewhere for quality

Are you on crack? The Korte Co. is named one of the NATIONS best builders every year! Not too mention all the other good local contractors who are more than qualified. Good luck to the hospital getting donations now...

You dont know dick. What do you think that Mcarthy is going to do? Build it himself with his wife and kids? They all sub everything out you moron. They are absoulutey ranked. The St. Louis Buisness Journal just had it in there. They have done much bigger projects than this hospital.

Last time I checked the hospital was being built in Highland, therefore people would like to see contractors from Highland who are qulaified get the work if they are going ask Highland people for donations. How much did you donate?

what about halliburton? seems you guys are totally into politically connected contracts. i will be donating $0. we really dont need a new state of the art first aid kit, because someone needs politically connected contract!

actually highland is a great critical access hospital for this area. The new hospital will be able to offer more procedures and life saving services than the old one. When it comes to a heart attack or stroke, time is tissue.... So u have an optionfor an hour long ride to Belleville or st Louis, or a new state of the art hospital that is right here in town. The other reason they are building a new hospital is because the old hospital needs so much work it would be cheaper to build than to remodel. Also the old hospital is land locked and there is no room for expansion. Highland is a non for profit catholic hospital still ran by the nuns. They are one of the very FEW hospital in the state of IL that do the Christian care services to help people pay their hospital bill. They are asking for donations to prove to the sisters that the COMMUNITY is behind building a new hospital. If you think that the hospital is not using local contractors by all mean give the hospital a call and ask them why they are not? I'm sure they will let you know why.... Don't donate if you don't want to, but please don't bitch about the hospital that saves the lives of people everyday.

Bob u seem to not know what I do for a living, i am outside "the bubble" everyday, I work in one of the top 10 hospitals in the US, so i DO know what i am talking about.
First, Helicopters don't fly in bad weather, ie wind, snow, ice, fog, and rain, because car accidents always happen on nice sunny days when the weather is perfect for flying.... Also if there is already an EMS crew out of town you won't be able to leave town till it gets back or an out of town ems can come get you...
Second, If you build a good critical access hospital children's or cardinal glen on will provide a 24 hr pediatrician on site...
