I absolutely agree. It's not all the Farrell's, I wasn't trying to say that at all. It's the ones who refuse to work, sell/use drugs, or allow drugs to be sold/used in and around their house and live off the government. It's a SAD situation all around.

People in the know, know different. Show some class and do things the right way. Hep B-C? I'd be worried about HIV. Did your man bring you something and you are blaming sluts in Newport and not your man? What gives.

Blaming the police for copper theft? That's like blaming the clerk at the gas station for high gas prices. PD is busting their ass to make you a safe city. You don't think so? Move to Covington for a few month and see how ya like it.

Seems like you like to point figures and yell but not back it up.

Get involved and do things the right way. Don't gripe on here about things. Go to city meetings and citizen group meetings. They have them all over the city, depending on where you live someone will listen and try to help with your problems.

Not true or at least not in the immediate plans. I know the owners of many of the houses on this block and none of them have sold to the NHA. Btw, which is worse, having the NHA overlooking tenants who try to sell drugs or slumlords not caring that their property is used as a drug house. I think I know the house liberty is talking about and something is definitely going on there.

The problem here is that you assume the NHA overlooks their tenants. Many times, aside from the quality of the building, there's no difference between a slum rental and a NHA rental. It's a short term fix with long term ramifications. By using federal funding to build those new housing apartments, they're required to be used for public housing for a minimum of 30 years. A better alternative would be for Code Enforcement to put some pressure on the slumlord to clean up the property and attract better tenants or part with the building. If a slumlord owns a building, there's always a chance that it'll be sold to somebody else who cares for and invests in it. That possibility is gone when the NHA gets it.

Regardless, there is no plan for NHA to start tearing down buildings and start building there. Right now it is the responsibility of the land lords. As I understand this particular building is part of a lawsuit between the current land owner and an auctioneer who was contracted to sell the property but did so with no reserve.
I'm not sure who is in control of the property but I am sure something is going on.
