Because she has more than one child? I have children at the high school and at a local catholic school. Anyone who lives in Newport should be as concerned and active as she is. Sorry if she makes your SBDM meetings longer?. I would like to see a high school that is a viable choice instead of NCC, not a punishment or a "derogatory term" that makes you embarrassed to tell your family and friends that your child is attending Newport High School", because that is what it is now, but the high school seems to be making positive changes. In my experience NCC is not a great academic school, but when you weigh Newport vs. NCC the choice is clear on the surface. Maybe she does her homework to make sure her children are getting the education they need? I have found her to be a concerned, involved, well intentioned parent. Anyone who would like to sell their "Newport home" should be just as concerned. How many board members actually have students in the district? THANK YOU MELISSA SHEFFEL FOR GOING TO THE UNDERCLASSMEN AWARDS, the only school board member/member or the "cabinet (joke)" for showing up. I don't agree with your selection of superintendent ( I thought you didn't like Brandt because he was a thief and liar, what a fool I was), but at least you show your support and didn't even accept recognition for it. Of course we all have our own opinions, but I don't feel like attacking an active, productive community member is a positive step. Questioning what is happening and being involved is a good thing. You might not like her, or she is making your job more difficult, but that doesn't mean she should be called out. Peace and never trust anyone over 40 or who is found to take money from schoolchildren :)

There needs to be less back stabbing by everyone in Newport including by Lara, Melissa, Tete, and their cliques who post on here constantly. If you want to be respected for your contributions then respect others for theirs. You dont have to tear people down to protect your piece of the pie. The hypocrisy in Newport has to end - starting with those who sit at the board table every month.

Turn about is fair play. Have you not read her idiotic posts? She's been attacking people on here for days and days in nasty stupid ways and calling them out, people she doesn't even know. But, hey, let's not have anybody attack her, poor thing or call her out in return. And how many parents bother to run for a board seat? It's the only way to get elected and the only way to have parents on the board. And being over 40 automatically makes one untrustworthy? Sounds like you have some issues of your own to resolve.

referring to 'Lame' whether 'Lame' is 'Lara' or not. I'm not the one who 'exposed' her. So no assumptions on my part.

What does a nice house in Ft Thomas have to do with anything? People living in nice houses in nice neighborhoods do things like lock their kids in closets when they misbehave and shoot their husbands just like people who live in not so nice houses in not so nice neighborhoods do. Where and how people live means nothing.

Or make their child walk home next to their car as they drive because they wet their pants?

No thank you. When my husband and I ran the numbers, talked to friends and did our research we realized that we could save over $15,000 for college choosing Newport. Is our child going to receive a stellar high school education, no way! But they are challenged in the classes that really matter (Science, English, Math, World Civ) and have a strong academic base from their catholic grade school. We now have over $5000 for our child's college instead of stressing about it while they were at NCC, plus Newport does award a lot of scholarship money. If your student is at NCC you really should ask yourself if it is worth it. In our case it was a resounding NO. No challenge and no follow through on promises or basic expectations. NCC is the right choice for many people, not for us. We talked to too many people who grown children that either told them they should have just sent them to Newport or HIghlands and saved the money or people whose children got such an excellent education there they had to take remedial classes in college... you know the ones you have to college class prices for but get no credit because it is information you should have mastered in high school. To each his own.

Oh and I'm sure yours is knocking down the Ivy League school doors.

Prediction: 15 years from now I'm retired living the high life, you're still on topix complaining about Newport schools. My kid, after graduating from Newport High, will go on to get a college education along with graduate school and will be working to make the world a better place while yours is watching Fox News, working at McDonalds, paying child support on their 3 kids with different baby mamas, all while they complain about the government and the high tax rate. Oh, but they're a graduate of Highland High and still have great football stories.
