Who remembers the old Tacoma pool?
I spent many happy day's there when I was young.
I wish they still had it there sometimes or one just like it or even bigger; especially after last summer.
who agrees with me?

i grew up going to that pool....i dont live around there anymore but i still have great memories of it.

They used to have a slide in the shallow end of the pool. 6 stiches to close my chin after I went down it and bashed the skull of the kid in front of me. I was 3 but I remember it like it was yesterday. Shortly after that my mom says they got rid of the slide....ooops! This would have been around 1969.

Oh yes, there were a few accidents there over the years, as well as a few acts of malice.
Isn't that with any place tho?

There was also the time the lady shot herself in the head there and died; but for the most part, most people acted like they had some sense back then, and it was pretty good memories for most of us

The city forced the pool to sell for the great "phase 3" developement plan. Phase 1, the marina was completed but I'm still waiting on the other 2 phases. Just like everything else with the City of Dayton, poorly managed by BAD politicians. The mayor and city manager are JOKES !

Why is the Tacoma Pool on a Covington Forum, cant you people think of anything about Covington, Like the Roller Rink that was over top of the Drug Store on Madison Ave...the concerts in Devou Park,

I was born and raised in Dayton and the Pool was a life savior for my generation when we were growing up and for my kids when they were young..Every summer we bought them a pool pass and they would spend every possible day at the pool..I have been gone from Dayton 30 years now..things have built up in Dayton, Bellevue and even Newport, a lot of changes have taken place over the years..To be able to go back and relive those days again..

I lived 2 blocks from that pool; we moved to our house in 1944.
I am very familiar (sp) with the pool. The place dreams are made of.
Now that brings to mind the problem Cincinnati has regarding their pools and keeping them open in the summer time.
If I remenber correctly, Tacoma Pool had an admission fee. If we didn't have the money we snuck in or went to (heaven help us if Mom found out) the River.
How simple to solve the problem Cincinnati has; just charge and admission fee. Nothing is free. If you don't have the cash, find cans, mow grass, chop wood, get a (heaven forbid) job. Then the experience at the pool will be much more reveered and remembered as the place "where dreams are made".

I remember the pool. We lived on fourth street.Had some wonderfull times there. Moved away years ago but have never forgotten that town or the pool. That was back in sixty five. Was some wonderfull people who lived there.

I remember when tacoma park had a roller coaster. I swam in the pool in 1935. Tuesdays were 10 cent day. All other days were 25 cents. Those were wonderful days. I am now 85.

Old timers would remember the fenced in sand area to lounge in when not swimming. There was a walk through shower that you had to walk through to remove the sand from your body before getting back into the pool.

I grew up in Dayton, loved the pool....my kids had pool passes every year, everyone hung out at the pool at night (weekends)..but that was when life was a lot simpler....Bum Davis diving off the big board,I can still remember our family pass # one year, 097 dont ask me how the # just stuck in my head..I remember when there was an aligator turned loose in the pool a very small one lol..remember afraid to go to the second raft cause you were always pushed off by some mean old boy lol

I had a pool pass every summer in the 60's. I would walk from South Npt. everyday and take a bus back home. Used the extra dime I saved from not taking the bus to the pool for a snack. Love the memorys

We lived in Tacoma trailer park every summer and had pool passes. We were close friends with the owners Steve Lunsford. There kids Vicky Sue and Steve were our close friends. We would help out in the concession stand and the popcorn and cotton candy stand. Great times. We did that for years and all our family from Cincinnati would come over to swim. Never forgot the good times we had every summer. OHHHHHH the good old days, wish sometimes I could go back.
