Newport spends more tax dollars on high salary budgets than most schools in KY. It's just not being spent effectively. Children, families and taxpayers deserve a better, more efficient system of education. Please share your concerns.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS? SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE IN NEWPORT SCHOOLS AND UNTIL THEY DO IT WILL BE A CORRUPT DISTRICT! TO MANY HIGH SALARIES - NOT ENOUGH TEACHERS THAT ACTUALLY WANT TO BE THERE. HECK WOULD YOU WANT TO SAY YOU WORKED FOR A F- RATED SCHOOL DISTRICT? TOO MANY CREATED "NOT NEEDED" JOBS FOR FRIENDS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO SHUT IT DOWN AND START OVER.

I hate that they spend money on kids, it is a shame. They need to spend more money on the facilities, and getting more people at the central office.

Study the invoices from district spending. You have no clue. Probably why you hang with fat girls. Time to take the paper bag off your head.

It is my understanding these rooms are supposed to have multiple copies of books so several students can use them together and a teacher can use them to teach. However a library is where students go to get books to read, that they select. I know my student needs something other than a textbook to read. A library book is great, but teachers obviously can't read all of the books in the library to support the student who is reading them. If you seriously think these are the same things, maybe you need to actually go into one of the schools and speak with a librarian. I'm sure they could help you understand the difference.

I did. She thinks it's is a big waste even after being sent to magnificent Mason County. I was told they already had leveled readers. Also, has some scoring to what is appropriate according MAP scores. But nice try Missy.

By the way Missy, your student won't find a textbook in the libraries. There is no money for textbooks. Lucky to find a one in Newport.

The library in the high school is an insult to the students of Newport. So much blame is heaped on the kids in this district, but the fact is the district treats the kids horribly. No chance for any student to shine. In Newport, success of any student is in spite of the district, not because of it.

Current board members have gotten lazy and act as yes-men to the administration (First Brandt and now Middleton). All the old gang needs to go - new candidates are asking the tough questions and thinking in new ways. Bring in the new team!

Gas allowance? Really? The highest paid employees get gas money. The farthest distance from one school to next is 12 blocks. Come on Newport Board! Time to go!
