Winning that drug war one patient at a time. How much will it cost to jail a 62 year old on a possession, cultivation, and distribution charge. This felony will be a death sentence for her. Where is her victim? What value to society is there by imprisoning her for 20 years? What happened to homeopathic medicine? Does everything 'medical' have to come from the same people that manufacturer the poisons like Thalidomide, Vioxx, Avandia? Not everything the government does is right. And this isn't right!!!

This prohibition against cannabis is insane. Did the first prohibition work? Is this one working?

It's OK. Keep it illegal if you want. You want the government out of it. It's OK. Use the current distribution system. If you want to keep drug gangs in the distribution business....well, they're already there. No problem! Keep cannabis illegal. I'll still get anything I want within a couple of hours. Period. No questions asked. No one carded. No ID's presented. And all proceeds go into the drug gang's till. It's OK. Business as usual. Geez, you act like it's going away. No, you just drive it back underground. Oh, by the way, China called and they want you to quit spending so much money on
your stupid prohibition. They're nervous and might call in their loans to us. Besides, the first one didn't work either. How does that go?...Doomed to repeat history. Priceless!

Medical marijuana isn't a trick and it's pathetic to pretend that the people trying to legalize marijuana are behaving surreptitiously when smart people have been screaming "legalize marijuana" at the top of their lungs for a damn long time now. The fact is that the medical marijuana debate serves to illustrate so much about the absurdity of marijuana prohibition as a whole. Critics of medical marijuana advocacy often complain that it hasn’t been approved by the FDA and that the whole concept of medicine by referendum is absurd, as though there exists any other path for advocates to take. It really shouldn’t be necessary to explain all the ways in which endemic and entrenched anti-pot prejudice across numerous government agencies renders preposterous any notion that people could just play this out by the usual rules. Marijuana can't be treated like other medicines, because it's nothing like them. It was here first and it's vastly cheaper, safer, and more versatile than its modern pharmaceutical counterparts. It's a bush that just grows out of the ground and what we want is for the government to stop arresting people who've found ways to use it. There's nothing even the least bit complicated or disingenuous about that. Those who now lament the cascading political momentum of medical marijuana as some sort of grand conspiracy have it exactly backwards. Marijuana was prohibited through a vicious series of outrageous lies and perversions of science. We all know the history of racism, demagoguery, and blind hysteria that somehow turned a helpful plant into a scary satanic death bush. From the very beginning, there has never been a time when any of this made sense while tobacco and alcohol use goes on its merry way. Yes, there is a massive lie at the center of this debate, but advocates for medical marijuana are NOT the ones telling it. The crux of it all is the billions of taxpayer dollars WASTED to fund narco enforcement, lawyers, judges and jails. The drug war itself is the true Trojan Horse that masquerades as a symbol of health and safety, while harboring destruction within its folds.

The war on drugs truns out to be one of the biggest lies ever sold to the American public. Industrializing the prison system was the end, the war on drugs was the means, and the erosion of personal liberties has been the cost. All the while, good ole' Uncle Sam was playing both sides of the issue, just to deepen their own pockets/budget/debt.

I've actually known this woman and her daughter for about 6 years now, as her daughter was friends with my own daughter. I'm totally in shock! I'm sure there's more to this story, so please don't be too quick to judge.

And an addendum...please make sure you know how to spell before posting comments!

Kay,
People like you are the problem. Those who would infringe on others rights need to be locked in a cage! The prohibitionists trying to eradicate the cannabis plant are just as stupid and prohibitionists that tried to eradicate the apple tree because people were making hard cider from it. Where would America be today without the apple tree? I hope someone throws hundreds of cannabis seeds in your yard and flower beds so that the pigs can beat you down and throw you in a cage, for a plant that caused no harm. By the way, if you breast fed your children, you gave them cannabinoid 2-AG in the thick hindmilk, resulting in the relaxed look your baby may have had at the end of its meal. I suggest you turn yourself in for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, or shut your stupid trap!

The daughter spoken about above is a minor, that is why there is no information of her living in the home with 67 Pot plants. Not that there is anything wrong with having children in your mid-late forty's. But, raising a child in a pot growing operation is most likely not the best environment for a child.
To all those running to Mrs. West's aid, sadly this is not the first run in with the law she has had. She was previously brought up on charges of Fraud in Randolph County also. Internet access to Public Record is a good thing.

Kay, I agree with you 100%, Of course "The Bunk" is also right as far as the government is allowing drugs to be brought into this country. Case and point was shown several years back on Phil Donahue show. It was played on video where a RENEGADE c-140 ARMY cargo plane was pushing hay size bails of pot out the back of the plane during the night. This was done out in the desert of Arizona. It was video'd by the FBI. Not to mention all the bought off Custom agents that let it slip thru the borders. We must also remember the CIA that had Herion brought into the U.S. during the V-nam era. Yes folks its a shame when money is layed in the hands how things get thru every time. Can illegal drugs be exterminated?..To an extent. There just aren't enough police to stop every pothead that wants to walk out in the mountains and grow some plants. Its only when they try to become BIGTIME growers or sellers that they catch the attention of Law Enforcement. Hats off to the Police who are in a war zone in these days and times against those of NO MORALS and NO CHARACTER.

A man has a right to his own life.

The Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The phrase, penned by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence and was written 11 years before the U.S. Constitution was adopted. How about that? Written by the man who wrote the constitution; The right to my own life.

The law enforcement/prison cabal has trashed the bill of rights and the constitution itself, what happened to the ...

4th amendment? I would say that collecting urine in a cup to determine my private actions in the privacy of my home is a violation. Same for randomly drawing blood without suspicion. No victim = no crime!

5th amendment? Traffic stop cop takes your pocket money, jewelry, and car without charge. It's becoming very common. http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/512/polic... . Here's a crime where the cops play criminal.

9th amendment: Unlisted rights are not necessarily denied. OK, if it's not called out then it's my right.

10th amendment: Powers not delegated to the United States or denied to states are reserved to the states or to the people. OK, still my right.

Why was a constitutional amendment (18th) needed for prohibition of alcohol and not for cannabis? Why was a constitution amendment (21st) required to resend alcohol prohibition?

Cannabis was prohibited by a tax stamp and two minutes of debate in one house of congress. Not completely following the rules. Yeah, that makes complete sense. And you want to maintain putting a fellow human in a cage for a victimless crime. OK, have it your way, McDonald. I will still get anything I want in a couple of hours regardless of your stupid prohibition running on borrowed money. Hope you can still borrow enough to keep it going.

OK, your turn to call me pothead, lazy, stinking hippy, scum of the earth, and ... oh, yeah, licensed scientist with kids that are studying to be a doctor.

I would rather have my children use cannabis over alcohol or tobacco. If you want your kids no alcohol or tobacco just turn on the tv and stand back.

I know what the harmful substances are. Do you?

Hmmm nowhere in your post do i see the numerical statue that Allows you the FREEDOM to SMOKE,GROW, SNORT, SNIFF, or any other legal means of breaking the LAW with Cannibus. As far as the 4th amendment {Search and Seizures} If you feel that your urine is that contaminated with Cannius, Then maybe the thought should hit you that you don't need a job that requires you to be operating ANY machinery of any type. I haven't called you any names nor have i expressed my thoughts on you as to the fact of the type person you should be. Example: Hippy, Pothead, Scum of the earth Etc...If for some reason you should feel you fit those Cats. Then by all means please feel free to classify yourself in those Cats. Your Interpretation of the Constitution however spun up and twisted DOES NOT make Cannibus LEGAL. You also must be a mind reader there Cannibus Whisperer, How did you know i worked for NASA and my son is a Doctor at the Baptist. LMAO....Try again Tarheel. I'm sure u're use to failure. Maybe if you keep telling yourself your Interpretational version of the constitution, Soon you will start believeing your warped and twisted version enough to write it into law. Now lay the Crackpipe down and try again. Bwhahahahaha You a Nice'n

"Hmmm nowhere in your post do i see the numerical statue that Allows you the FREEDOM to SMOKE,GROW, SNORT, SNIFF, or any other legal means of breaking the LAW with Cannibus."

Try reading it again. No, Slower. OK, use a ruler to keep the lines straight.

"I'm sure u're use to failure."

Actually, no. I have money, job, 2 degrees, smart kids, no debt ... Let me look... yeah, no failure here. The only failure I see is the absolute insanity of continued prohibition; as if the first one worked. Remember?

"I haven't called you any names nor have i expressed my thoughts on you as to the fact of the type person you should be."

...and then followed up with

"Now lay the Crackpipe down and try again. Bwhahahahaha You a Nice'n "

But you're not calling me names or insinuating what kind of person I am???

You make light of the fact that 872,721 people last year were arrested for simply possessing cannabis. And you think that's NORMAL? You talk about the breaking the law. Do you know how cannabis became illegal? Did it follow the proper legal precedent? Was it done according to the rules? No, try again. Pick up a history book or at least look it up on Google.

If you are so hung up on the law, then why don't you hold the prohibitionist to the same standard? What about the swat teams that bust in the door and shoot anything that moves? What about the cops that steal all your possessions under asset forfeiture? Google no-knock drug warrant deaths. Is this what you advocate? The taking of innocent lives?

Maybe YOU can explain how prohibition makes any sense at all. 70+ years of prohibition and a you've not made even the slightest dent in use. Hey, if it works so well why not bring back alcohol prohibition? Why continue to do the same thing over and over expecting different results? Right, Cat?

Oh you are exactly right why didn't the rest of the U.S. see it your way.{smacks hand to head} The WHOLE U.S. is wrong and you are right as to the interpretation of the constitution and the laws written there in. At any rate the police always yell "Search Warrant" then they yell "GET ON THE GROUND"..Now what part of that don't YOU and the rest of the drugheads understand?..Especially the ones toten AK-47's. Just to get back on topic, you are wasting your time trying to convince me or anyone else that has good common sense that POT or any other drugs is alright to use. My way i don't end up in jail. Your way well we see the dopeheads on tv laying on the ground yelling "What I do?" "What I do?" when they come for U! As far as the Crackpipe goes..We all figured you must be smoking one with your self-convincing interpretation of the constitutional rights. The only right you have when a cop may have SUSPICIONS of ILLEGAL DRUGS on, near, or in the vicinity of your persons/or property is the right to remain silent!..I recommend you list your case to your local congressman to get POT or any other drugs legalized. I'm sure they would love to laugh at your interpretation of the Constitution and YOUR RIGHTS as you see them, BTW make sure you mention that fact to the COPS while they have you in Cuffers. Alot of Cannibus pep's scream that kick'n all the way to the jail cell. LMAO...

Ah yes, the rabid troll dance.

Again, I ask, "Maybe YOU can explain how prohibition makes any sense at all?" Is your prohibition working? Has it ever worked? Seen any less drugs around? Are they cheaper? Less people using? Simple questions that should be easily found online.

But you don't answer the question. You tell me,
"At any rate the police always yell "Search Warrant" then they yell "GET ON THE GROUND""

Really? Did you Google "no knock drug warrant deaths"? It seems like your beloved police are killing innocent people without yelling, "Search Warrant". I believe that they also like killing pets as well. Check out http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/08/07/mayor.war...

OK, Barney...my work is done here. You've done nothing but spout inanities about my rights around the cops and nothing about why we should continue with the failed prohibition against cannabis. This is my whole point.

Prohibitionist do not have a valid reason for the continued prohibition against cannabis. This is what you get when you try to engage a prohibitionist troll. Nothing!

I'll swim away leave you in the shallow end of the gene pool with your 'no-drugs' world view, your cop 'minders' who'll tell you exactly what to do next, and your sweet, precious prohibition. I will take your advice about contacting my congress rep to legalize cannabis. That's the only thing you said that made sense. Really, go back and read what you wrote. Seriously, Cat.

TYC, let me make this simple for you and your 2 college degrees. If you have ANY moral character and good upbringing, You won't need prohibition. Why you ask? Because you would automatically refrain from using Cannibus, Alcohol, Tobacco, or anything else that would harm you. I don't need to research the I-net for facts my parents taught me from childhood.
I saw thru years of watching my classmates, friends, and some relatives on their way to the cemetery as examples as to NOT use Illegal Drugs, Alcohol, and yes even Tobacco. BTW I used the word Cat.-short for Category. You asked why they shoot pets?...I would say probably because the animal was a threat to the arresting officer. I can tell by the way you express yourself in your posts that you have ALOT to learn about life. I just hope you stay out of jail long enough Cheechy Chong to realize ..Pot or anything else is NOT worth being locked up over.
A NO-KNOCK Warrant is usually used on a HIGH RISK drug house that very well may have weapons {AK-47's Grenade launchers, pipe bombs, Boobie traps etc.} that pose a threat to the officers. Now unless you live in that type house, You have nothing to worry about. If you don't have blood shot eyes and alcohol breath when you are stopped at a police check point, You also have nothing to worry about.
Don't blame the police because you choose to break the law. Its not their fault...Grow up and take some responsibility for your own actions.
If Cannibus is all that great, they wouldn't have arrested that woman in HP for growing it now would they? Hmmm?..If there were deaths due to NO-KNOCK Warrants was more than likely due to the fact someone pulled a weapon. If this was the case then yes they deserved what they got and so did Scruffy if he tried to bite an officer.
So now you have learned to just say NO to drugs and you won't need prohibition or the police to show up to arrest you so you can spend the weekend with Otis the town drunk. LOL
