Gallhan's is being purchased by Sheffield's Furniture located in Philadelphia and Danker's. I don't know when the deal is going to be finalized but it should be a clean start once the current owner gets out of the picture.

Thanks to whoever started this site. We ordered from WA years ago and I was just about to give them another try! Thanks for the posts on other reputable dealers to try. I know I will use my credit card for the deposit no matter where I go. Good luck, hope things work out for everyone still waiting...

We're looking for help with a related problem. We bought furniture from Wood-
Armfield's Utility Craft Home Furnishings in September 2005, paid by
check, and were given a number for
JRW Enterprises to arrange for shipment.
Shipment was delayed by JRW's truck breakdown and Jane's surgeries. We last talked to a Kelly Hayes in 2007, but the previous contact phone is disconnected and another phone in Thomasville NC that
the Greensboro BBB gave us doesn't answer.
Suggestions?

Don't shop at Gallahan's Furniture. I purchase a sofa from Gallahans and before a year was up the spring broke. They took the sofa to repair after 3 months of discussion and it has been 2 months and I haven't seen my sofa and no one can tell me what the status is. I spoke with cusotmer service, the assistant store manager and store manager and can not get an answer.
Don't shop there

That is because they are some of the same management that was at Wood Armfield. Ask for Brad Flater.

Maybe before you blame the store you should stop and think. Gallahans didn't make your sofa they just ordered your sofa. Maybe, just maybe the company that made your sofa were dragging their feet! How can Gallahans fix it if they didn't make it?

I am glad that consumers will not have to purchase from High Point any more. They need to stay in their local area and knick pick the furniture, expect it for free and after doing free design work go down the road to save $5.00. All they did when they came is gripe about the South, use our rest rooms and play one local store againest another. Let them steal designs and get a better price from their local neighbors. They can let their rug rats tear up their local stores and bounce on the furniture and the beds. God help Furniture Retailers anyway. The American consumer is so stupid they have no idea what they are about to reap. Cheap furniture at high prices, and clerks instead of designers. I used to see the greed and crap that High Point retailers had to take off the consumer and the manufacturer. Now two of the majors are gone and more are going to follow. When your sofa spring shoots up your butt and your bed collapses because it is paper instead of wood, remember I TOLD YOU SO!

I am the senior guy in the team that purchased Gallahan's assets from the Wood Armfield folks. When we took over there were ~2,000 customer orders and the deposits on these orders were gone. We had purchased some of the assets and we took great pains to protect ourselves from the liabilities. We were not under any legal obligation whatsoever to refund ~1.8 million in deposits.

We did however offer to deliver all of these orders even though in some cases they were completely prepaid and we delivered at a 100% loss.

We did this for one reason only to restore the goodwill value of the Gallahans name. So after a tremendous loss (investment) on our part to deliver 2,000 customer orders
it really pains me to see a complaint like this one posted. It is not believable that we would help 2,000 customers get their furniture orders and then be insensitive to a legitimate customer service issue.

Kurt Brachwits is the customer service manager. In his previous postion he won Volvo's competition for the best customer service person in North America. If anyone has an issue call and ask for Kurt. He is the best.

Hi again it's Jim the senior guy from the new ownership team... We did keep the best of the Gallahans people and we hired 2 managers previously from Wood Armfield Brad and Paul. These people are absolutely awesome and we are proud to work with them!

Hey Jim, do you by chance know what happened to JRW Enterprises? I cannot locate a telephone number or an address for them.

Your crazy if you give furniture dealers money upfront. Most of the furniture today comes from overseas. There is no reason to buy it High Point anymore. The furniture plants around here are all but boarded up. So too will all the former so called discounters. Buyer Beware. If you do buy from these remaining dinosauers . Check it very carefully for damages. Mine came in damaged and it took 9 months to finaly get a good one delivered.

Buy from ROOMS TO GO. You can take your pick up and get it right at the back door. Because it is particle board it is too heavy to blow off the truck. Just don't get it wet, since it is paper it will squell up and crack.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Capricorn

You're feeling edgy as Mars moves into reverse, and it won't be long before people start to get on your nerves. You might get very irritated by someone's funny little habits, yet feel you daren't say anything in case you go overboard. Or you could get very annoyed when someone blurts out something that was supposed to be a secret but which quickly becomes common knowledge.
