I know other towns that are mulling over the same idea. Perhaps we could draw from neighboring towns to help a YMCA not only exist but thrive. Our current Community Center is just not adequate enough. Too many concerts, and way too many team competing for court time. First Baptist Church had a great idea to open up a gym but sadly the project seems to have completely stalled due to a bad economy. Faith Baptist church in a new building out by Mirror Lakes lost a real opportunity when they moved into their new digs, by not doing any kind of gym. The Lutheran gym is great but it seems difficult to schedule with. What are ye thoughts? I am envisioning a Y with at least one full size basketball court, workout room, and activities director. Why NOT reach for the stars!

We need a YMCA that has an indoor swimming pool!

great idea higgy, that would be a great addition to the aforementioned amenity "wish list" in said Y. Another idea - why not utilize existing structures and refurbish them for our YMCA? Could it be done cost effectively? Two structures that come to mind are the old Kronsbein Implement Dealership (not sure if teh ceilings are tall enough for basketball courts though and the recently deceased lumber yard with the huge sheds in back. The city needs to do more!
