How about you fine folks? What were you created for? Was there a specific purpose for it? Is God a spirit and did He desire a body to dwell in? Did you ever wonder why we are referred to as vessels and tabernacles in the Bible? Christ in you (The anointing of the Holy Spirit)is the hope of glory, Colossians 1:27. If we are not having this experience, we don't have Him.
"And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us" 1John 3:24
"Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit" 1John 4:12.

Why is it important to have His Spirit?

For if you live after the flesh (the inherited and learned habits that are contrary to the heart of our savior) ye shall die; but if you, through the Spirit, mortify (put to death) the deeds (habits) of the body, you shall live.

We are never saved by showing up at a building, putting money in a plate and doing good deeds. It is only by overcoming our natural born and learned ways, and by the Spirit following "The way, The Truth and The Life" are we to enter into the eternal society of God.

"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne" Revelation 3:21

To as many as receive Him (His teachings of the way, the truth, and the life) to them gave He power to become the sons of God". John 1:12

I'm sincerely praying that you will find what is missing in order to fill that void in your life. If you seek the Lord with an open and honest heart, He will bless you with the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. Sometimes it takes a while to learn that the spirit that we attack someone with does more damage to us than for whom we intended it. It's a spiritual law. We do reap what we sow. Why continue in a life that robs you of true peace?

I see that you are falling behind in "the race" and letting the flesh overtake the walk of the Spirit; "The way, The Truth, and The Life". We begin the race when we are baptized into the body of Christ. We then keep the flesh, the impulses and habits of the natural heart under subjection. We do this daily. as we awaken each day we choose who we will serve; the king and kingdom of light, or the king and kingdom of darkness. If we choose to live in the kingdom of light each day, then we must deny self, keep it dead to the temptations of the impulses and urges of the natural heart. This is the taking up of our cross. We can never claim perfection, even though the law demands perfection under the pain of death. But we are covered from condemnation under the umbrella of His righteousness by our Savior who lived the law without fail. We claim we are "perfect in Christ Jesus", as we are told in the book of Colossians. As we are in His grace, we "press toward the mark of His high calling", but we never, this side of eternity, reach perfection. This is the race, we "fight the good fight", and are accounted righteous, but it's always in Him by the Holy spirit working in us. "He that has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ".When the race seems a heavy burden, and the flesh seems to want the mastery over us, we "Come boldly before the throne of grace, the we may receive mercy and grace to help in time of need".Heb 4:16.When we live like this, abiding in Him and in His word, "We sit with Him in heavenly places" as the Holy Spirit, "the golden bowl" of Eccliastes 12:6 feeds us and empowers us through "the silver strand" that reaches down to our hearts and anoints us. That's the race that Paul talks about. It starts when we choose to confess, repent and turn from the selfishness of the natural hearts impulses, urges and habits, and trust in the direction and correction given us in the Word of God; the words of life. Many who profess to be Christian have either never understood this or have fallen into a deceptive walk of compromise by preachers and churches that live in sensuousness and covetous idolatry who honor Him with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but the way thereof are the ways of death" Proverbs 14:12. It's a good race, and we, by beholding Him, as the Holy spirit brings us into deeper understanding of the loveliness of our Heavenly father's heart, through His word, are changed, step by step, into His likeness. 2Cor.3:17,18. This is what it means to be set free.
