I would have to say that the not enough services & shopping, too expensive ($$$-I am too poor for this town), not enough good jobs, and too many rules. I mean come on, seriously, there is a rule for EVERYTHING around here! "You HAVE to have your yard kept up" I bet you that in the next few years they'll starts making a rule about "You HAVE to be RICH or you'll get kicked out" lol. The people here are not neighbor-friendly AT ALL! For years (about 8) I walked with FOUR bags on my back and arms walking, because I had no other transportation, from Hardesters to my house (a VERY long walk), and NO ONE, I tell you, no one stopped to help out. Every one here is rich and has their fancy cars, yet they can't take one minute out of their snobby days and help someone who was practically groveling on the ground from the weight of the bags on their back?!

This place acts like their all awesome, and nice place to live, but the oppsite. PLUS, the "Gated community" thing, totally is bull@$** because I walked from outside HVL to the inside with ease, the only thing that can be labeled as "gated" is the crappy little security building that is stupid in itself. Trust me, I've seen what a REAL gated community is like, and this place is far from it. Plus, did you know we had a fair share of MURDERS around here too!? Yeah, so much for a safe community.

I've lived here for 8 years and I can't wait till I can afford to get the hell out of this place.

Oh and by the way, for some reason it says that I'm from San Lorenzon, CA. But I'm actually from, of course, Hidden Valley Lake.

Sounds like you are the kind of resident that Lower Lake would welcome. The CCR concept prevents the general assistance crowd from trashing HVL and making it an extention of Clearlake. This is the best location in the county and it only exists because of Santa Rosa and Napa. The commuters bring the money here to keep it alive. I hope you can leave soon too.

I've heard more than you have then. Right across the street from me there was a child rapist that the police caught and he was hiding in the bushes. Also, a guy murdered his family down the street from me. You must live up in the hills then. I would appreciate you not being rude to me to EVERY one of my comments.

You call be whiney and all "me me me" but that is far from the truth. I was just stating my mind. So please, be civil and stop being a crabby person. It's getting really old and annoying.

I don't live up in the hills, and I do not believe a family was murdered here.

I do know there are quite a few peeping Toms in HVL....so ladies/girls keep your blinds closed

Wow... rich? I have never been considered rich. I like HVL and the rules prevent the values of homes plummeting even more. I do believe that most people here have pride in home ownership and take care of their homes.

I think what bothers me the most about HVL is the constant bickering about the board. I have lived here for 6 years and it hasn't let up. I got caught up in it shortly after I moved here, now I realize it is just the favorite past time of some of our residents here. I stay away from it, and I know it still occurs because of the editorials in our local rag the Times Star.

Terri, you right! I've lived here for over 15 years, and it's the same thing over and over. To be a board member in HVL you have got to be either stupid, naive, or both! It's been very funny watching the revolving door of board members over the years. I remember when a Judge was running this place because things were so screwed up! Most people who run for the board have no clue what-so-ever what their in for because the main reason they ran for the board is to employ their own agendas instead of dealing with serious issues that affect you and me as homeowners of HVL. So as it turns out, once they figure out their own personal agendas cannot be realized, most of those serious issues that affect you and I get brushed off or hastily voted on! Now we have ourselves a tenacious General Manager and new admin management staff that wants all of use to follow all the rules in the CC&R's that have basically been ignored for many, many, many years, and while there at it, make up a few new rules as they attempt to figure out just what they hell they are doing!

Completely agree, except that the "tenacious General Manger" was sent packing back to Marin last week. That still leaves a long list of issues, and lots of work ahead to recover from all the damage done, but at least now there is hope that things will begin to get better in HVL. Before the GM was fired, there was less than "a snowball's chance..."

THE NON PAID GOLF COURSE MARSHALS NEED TO BE TRAINED IN HUMAN SKILLED COMMUNICATION BEFORE GIVING THEM A GOLF CAR TO RIDE AROUND IN AND HARASS OTHERS.

The golf course marshals are a nuisance they harass home owned players over minor infractions of the rules. Some even have threatened home owners with bodily harm.

I love Hidden Valley Lake Ca Golf Community. But there has to be some give on golf management.

Some of the security guards (not all) do much harm to this wonderful Hidden Valley Lake community. They need to be trained in communicating with others. Some not all resort to threatening home owners on minor rules violations. They do not understand doing this results in a negative response and harms HVL. I love HVL.

General manager please understand and see that the security personnel and the golf course marshals do not harm HVL by their behavior. Thank you

HVL Security and the Golf Marshal's are only doing what they are told to do... Don't shoot the messenger's, it won't get your voices heard. You people signed ON YOUR HONOR to abide by the CC&R's. If it weren't for those of you doing the wrong thing Security and Golf Marshal's wouldn't be needed!

GARBAGE QUOTE
(No it is the marshal's and golf management doing the wrong thing. Management is letting non-paid people on ego trips ride around in a golf car with their ego's running wild.(YES YOU ARE CORRECT IN THEY ARE TOLD OR GIVEN POWER TO DO WHAT THEY DO WHICH IS THE PROBLEM.)

The problem is the volunteer golf course Marshal's are not trained. They most are also not paid and operate often from a need of power over others. HVL has a history of of bad golf course management the frequent firing of golf course pros proves such. HVL get real and stop harrasing property owners that is golf members over minor issues. HVL is a great place to live.

North Highlands, CA listen up most people here including golf members abide by the cc&r's. The problem is trying to save money by letting non-paid and non trained golf marshal's in need of power over others run loose is not good for HVL. I BET YOU ARE A GOLF MARSHAL? IS IT THAT YOU HAVE NO POWER IN YOUR HOME AND YOU ARE TIRED OF YOUR WIFE TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO? SO YOU VOLUNTEERED TO BE A GOLF MARSHALL. HA! THAT HAD TO BE SAID. I LOVE HVL

When we moved here, we signed papers agreeing to the rules of the association. It's just to bad, that some choose to ignore them, and ruin this beautiful place with their very un-neighbohr like attitudes. A few bad apples can ruin home values and neighbohrhoods for all. Also, we pay for the privelage, and I want my money back!

I agree.

What's up with all the messy yards and driveways? People move in here and don't take care of the property... Slobs

Why doesn't someone do something about it??
