Why was the former Exec Dir fired? Does anyone here care that the Board can deliberate in secret about his job performance, yet we have to pay his salary and are not informed about processes for hiring and firing of OUR employees.

You're little late, aren't you?

Do you even live IN HVL. or on Meadowbrook Dr

The position is "General Manager", or "GM" for short. Been that way forever, so you obviusly don't live in HVL. The Board is responsible for the GM's contractual employment, not the members. The Association is a corporation, so the members are like "shareholders" not "employers". You don't see stockholders of a business like Ford Motor Corp. tell their Board members who to hire do you? Nope. They are NOT YOUR EMPLOYEES! Stir the pot somewhere else.

The current Board did the right thing by releasing J."JJ" Johnson earlier this year. Kudos to them for having the courage and conviction to do the right thing and send that guy back to Marin where he came from. They did it by the book you can be sure - no one wants an ugly fight in court over wrongful termination. If you really want to know why he was fired, you can drive over to Marin County and ask him yourself. The previous Board that hired him should hang their heads in SHAME. No previous HOA management experience, no good references, no HOA certifications, horrible interpersonal skills, and a really bad attitude. Fortunately most of that bunch on the previous Board have either resigned or their terms have expired. HVL history books will record these times as a "train-wreck" that will take years to repair. Here's hoping the next General Mgr. has more experience and better skills to run things properly and professionally.

2 of the board members that voted him in are again running for the board.

Wasn't it essentially the same board that hired him the board that fired him? Maybe two different members?
