Tell me why cops need a ride home from work..How many officers are on duty at one time? If an incodent occurs...how about the ones on duty deal with it.. Or are they to busy stealing someones legal grow.. or running hookers and meth? Are these officers on call? evidentally they don't have a beer after work which would render them useless in the event of an incodent...Can you guarentee they can and will be ready to respond 24-7......or is it just a perk for Lake Counties Finest? LOL

I think this argument is much more valid for sheriff and CHP than a city policeman.

Why would you want the poeple you arrest to know where you live? That to me seems like a saftey issue.

I can tell you are very misinformed,Having a car ready to roll when the officer comes on duty saves time and needless out of car time to switch from private to work vehicle, one thing to note the Sheriff Dept is the usual back up for the LPD so your concern about the driver being sober is mute. How do I know all this....I listen to My scanner, You can learn alot if you are an advid listener.

When the Clearlake Oaks task force used the upstairs of the Visitors Center as their office Lucerne really settled down from just having the cruisers and animal control vehicles parked there. Even our dulled down full time miscreants know enough to take their crap elsewhere when they see a cruiser.

If we ever see our substation open up it will make dramatic difference in what goes on around here. We've been waiting patiently for that to happen but our patience is wearing thin. And I don't want to know what it cost to purchase land & building, rehab/remodel building, landscape the place etc to let it set empty.

And you could always grow a pair and post under your own name. Do they do spine transplants? I'd ask about spinal replacements but you'd need one first.

I can understand why Oakland posters are so concerned about local issues. Seems like an awful lot of them end up in our jail. As for take home cars. It is hard enough to find good cops and keep them in Lake County due to the low wages and AWFUL benifits programs. Why would a cop stay here when some non working non citizen has better medical than they do? Why would they stay here when their retirement is one of the worst in the state? A take home car seems like a small price to pay for a good cop to stay.

No they aren't. They are thinking of the "old days" when there were only 2-3 policemen TOTAL in Lakeport, 1-2 sheriff's deputies TOTAL on duty at any given time. Maybe 1 CHP at a time in the winter, perhaps NONE during night shift-then they might get called out to an accident. The ambulance companies (private) used to work the same way. People were stationed in outlying areas at home, with a partner that lived very close-or borrowed a bedroom for on call. Things are different now-only county wide agencies really need to have take home cars.

Perhaps if we can protect our police departments from frivolous lawsuits and frivolous wrongful death cases we could buy them segways to patrol with or cruise home on.

there are reasons people don't like those who wear badges. Half of hidden valley and three-quarters of all of lake co. have "those reasons"!
