recently a man who killed someone got 15 days. Still alive probably get you 5 with a small summons. Blame the victim is the way to do it in our great society.

Suffolk County Highway Patrol, the biggest DWI arrest contributers in Suffolk County have been removed from the roadways and the amount of DWI's on the road is getting ridiculous! All those highway cops are now in the Precicts doing Precinct work, and can no longer put the same amount of attention into arresting DWI's and enforcing the vehicle and traffic law, and public safety is really starting to suffer because of it. I know some of the public may not like cops writing tickets and arresting DWI's and reckless drivers, but its a necessity for the safety of our families driving out there. Instead of a tree this could have been someones family member that was hit. Steve Levy really screwed this one up. Steve Levy put Highway Patrol back on the roads and fix what you broke!

No one is stopping SCPD from patrolling Woodbury Road in Suffolk County. Also, stop blaming the cops and blame the drunk, please.

Another braindead stupid W.0.P.P.A.L.0.0.N. who can't handle himself or his drinks.

Vito Coppola, sounds like one of those names you use when signing into an hourly motel. Reminds me of Rosario, a fat smelly kid that lived on my street when I was growing up. Swear to God I think his younger sister had a mustache before her brothers did.

and just how exactl would a highway cop eating donuts and spilling coffee all over himself while parked on the median of the L.I.E. have caught this guy who WAS not on the L.I.E.
Actually, by having these highway guys assiged to the streets you've just proved how inept they are at catching DWI offenders.

If people know the chances of getting stopped and arrested for DWI is there they are less likely to drive drunk. The same chance of getting stopped is no longer there. DWI's in Suffolk is up and DWI arrests are down. Not because cops arent doing them anymore but because Highway Patrol cops job assignments have changed. Highway Patrol made up 3% of the police force but accounted for more than 25% of DWI arrests in Suffolk county, as well as 75% of the tickets written in Suffolk County. By eliminating Highway Patrol, and reassigning those officers and making them regular precinct patrol you have changed their main assignment. Locking up DWI's and writing tickets is no longer there main assignment, answering 911 calls is. I'm not blaming the cops for anything, they are doing an amazing job out there. Steve Levy may not have put that guy behind the wheel but he is creating an environment that is favorable for it to happen.

Its the mindset! These drunks know they have a better chance of not getting caught now. Highway cops would also be on assignment to areas within precincts. Before Levy they had a Highway enforcement team that was always enforcing high accident locations. And would the chance of one of these cops catching a DWI be better if they were on the road or sitting in someones kitchen taking a report. Inept? Only Levy can truly hold that title!

thanks. you've just put into perspective exactly what the rest of the scpd were doing: NOTHING.

bwah bwah bwah levy. if you hate your boss so much then do what any other normal person does in that situation: leave and find another job. we all know that'll never happen. because when shyit comes to p!hss you guys know you have the best gig going. and why is it that you know all of these petty stats?

It is a very sad situation what is happening on New York roads. You can't open the paper with out reading about a fatality or serious injury from a DWI accident. All the education in the world will do nothing to eliminate DWI offenses. Harsh examples must be made of these offenders to make one think twice before getting behind the wheel while drunk, but with the extremely liberal judicial system hard at work, letting these offenders off the hook with the minimum, the problem will sadly continue.
