As a Huntington resident for 25 years with loads of Townhouse memories I just can't believe the chandelier is still shining bright in the window every night despite the boards covering the window...what a disgrace!

The Huntington Town House was a tacky low class wedding factory. Good riddance to the shrine of gluttony. Especially those nauseating vienese hours that cater to all those fat women who stuff themselves into sparkly polyester dresses and walk around looking like sausages spilling out of their skin! Yuck!
Save your money and have a small luncheon or dinner instead of throwing it away on one of these foolish places. Use your money for a home and savings.

I am writing this on the 42nd anniversary of our wedding at the Huntington Town House. It was a glorious and well-managed event. The boys who owned and ran it are certainly much different than their successors. Although we haven't lived in NY since we married, we do come back often to visit and we are always pleased to see the circular stairs and chandelier in the grand lobby.

All that being said, one must understand that time marches on, people change, the needs of society grow and ebb. The Town House lived a good and long life - now it's time to let it go. The highest and best use of the land is most probably retail. I don't suppose readers will like anything except the Town House on that land, whether it's Lowe's or a strip mall or a grocery or a chain pharmacy or restaurants.

Live for the future - you can't do anything about the past. You might not like it, but that's the way it is.

i worked there for three years and I would never eat a meal after walking through the kitchen and prep areas and seeing so much filth and vermin......they had better bomb the snot out of it first or the whole neighborhood will be over run with rats and roaches....good by and good riddance

So when is the wrecking ball hitting that cheesy blighted eyesore? We need a Lowe's in Huntington, as we're all wasting gas driving to the Farmingdale Lowe's to get our well-deserved brightly-lit and clean home improvement retail experience alternative to the dreary and ambivalent Home Depot.

I worked there for a while in the 80's...it was disgusting! No fresh food due to kosher allowances..everything frozen-and still for top $$$$. Food prep , cleanliness, attention to detail left little to be desired. It was a wedding and special event factory. Still, another Loews in the world is'nt needed!!

I worked there from 2002 through 2006. You should have seen HOW NASTY that place did! Rhona is a cheapskate. She claims she did a multi-million dollar renovation when I was hired. It was tacky she cut corners just like the food. The employee area was unsanitary. I used to find cats and other random animals in the basement all the time. The food was recycled. The only food that was good was the food that was not made by the Townhouse. The dumpster was so overstuffed the sanitation dept. could never get all the trash out so the loading dock smelled like a raunchy sewer. I am not surprised in the slightest reading all of these comments. There were only 3 good things about the Town House: desserts from outside caterers, Rhona's son Matthew, and a few decent employees. Rhona got what she deserved! LOL, I wonder if she is still screwing people with her on premise catering company. Oh and if anyone is curious the name it is Silver Caterers. It is apparently still in operation.

I don't know whethier to laugh or go, oh well another one bites the dust. I believe in landmarks and few survive today. But the Huntington Townhouse is not a landmark. Link's Log Cabin was a landmark till it burned down. But not the townhouse. But Lowe's? Like no one else wanted that horrible piece of property? Ah, it isn't the best location in town. Parking sucks and access is really not great from the Jericho. The chandalier is the ugliest thing I ever saw.

live around corner from townhouse. the town of Hunt shows its usual lack of class and guts by allowing this to happen. it is an ugly and dangerous stretch of road now. they don't give a crap about safty and quality of life. turn it into a park! They knocked down acres of trees for another Stop&Shop which is a bland store and a blight like the Lowes will be.
Ain't that the truth. Hey anyone remember the grass that used to grow where the Walt Whitman Mall is? Remember when Macy's had a snack bar on the New York Ave side of the store. That was a nasty stretch of road in the 1960's, when we moved out there. I remember when the Mall was being built.

She only got $35 mil? It's worth a lot less than that. Don't think a Lowe's will fit on that property. I like the old fashion hardware stores we used to have. Where you could buy one nail instead of a box of 100. Who uses 100 nails? except maybe a carpenter. Why would I buy a gallon of milk when I only use a quart. Wise up guys, they are going to get you.

Well home depot has a monopoly in that area so why not a Lowes, the area is already over developed at least if there is competition hopefully the public can save some $$ in these bad times.A neat old windmill restaurant used to stand just east of that property that should have been saved as a historic land mark JMHO

This is new to me learning that they are being sold. We got married there in July 1987 and we have been always planning to visit HTH to see and reminisce the day our day had been. Sad to hear what will happen to this place. I am sure that there are lots of people attest to many wonderful weddings there. I wish we can visit that place again even for one last time.

Why don't you go to the motel you spent your wedding night?
