I had my sweet 16 there back in 2002. Now we're planning for my little sister's and what a shame to see such a beautiful place get destroyed. There will never be anything like the townhouse on LI. =(

I understand that the Town has mandated a hiring hall.
To accommodate the MANY illegal workers from S. Huntington. It will be located at the contractors register in the LOWE'S store.

Everyone need to make a profit in this world. She brought millons of beautiful memories to many many families. She should be commended not slandered. And yes businesses make decisions over night with every right to. I wish Rhona all the luck and happiness in the world.
I'm guessing you don't know Rhona personally. If you did, you would know that she deserves everything that is said about her. She's not a nice human being at all. She would screw anyone who got in her way, she would treat the Pope badly if she had to. She's just not a nice person at all, so unless you've had to deal with her personally you cannot sit there and defend someone who deserves to be ripped apart. As far as Howie, her brother, he's not a bad guy. If he helped her get to where she was at one time, why should he not be compensated?? Like I said Rhona would sell her own family out to get what she wants, which is what she's doing with Howie. You can take that to the bank Rhona!!!

My high school's prom's were always held there and back in 2002 it seemed nice but I went there last year to plan a wedding and the place looked disgusting. I was previously engaged and we went there to book the wedding but once we broke it off, we asked for our deposit back and they sent us two post-dated AND bad checks. Now we all know why it's closing they have screwed too many people. Good riddance!

live around corner from townhouse. the town of Hunt shows its usual lack of class and guts by allowing this to happen. it is an ugly and dangerous stretch of road now. they don't give a crap about safty and quality of life. turn it into a park! They knocked down acres of trees for another Stop&Shop which is a bland store and a blight like the Lowes will be.

It's been a while since it was sold, but every time I drive past the townhouse I feel sad. I have been to so many Sweet 16's and Weddings at the townhouse, and I planned on having my reception there. It is really sad to see it go. It's such a beautiful building, and all Lowes is going to do is cause major traffic on Jericho Tnpk.. the traffic is already bad, but Lowes is going to make it so much worse. And they will have to add ANOTHER traffic light. I wish the townhouse could just stay and Lowes could find somewhere else to build their new store! We already have a Home Depot in Huntington. We don't need another hardware store!

Huntington Town is useless when it comes to improving/maintaining quality of life for its residents. The traffic there will be a nightmare, that is true. Have you ever tried to deal with the town on a quality of life issue? We had neighbors who had a hole in the roof, kept garbage in the backyard, junked cars on their property, put on an illegal deck, and, despite repeated complaints from several neighbors, the town did nothing. This Lowes will be terrible. I can accept that the Tonwhouse's time has come and gone, but there should have been an effort made to replace it with something more palatable for the community. There is not one positive thing about a Lowes coming in at that location. I suppose the residents can band together and vow to boycott. It's worth a try, right?

Is it true the new store will have a "hiring hall" inside at the contractors checkout? I heard it was mandated by the town to get them off the street.

Uneven service and quality. When they knew they were being watched or reviewed, they were phenomenal but they often cut corners which sucked when we were paying so much for our special events. It is a shame that the place where so many blessed events happened, is now turning into a Lowe's. I wonder what it would be like to go back over there and walk thru the place where we tied the nuptial knot.

When we went to see the Huntington Towne House, Rhona Silver greeted us with open arms. She promised my daughter the world in terms of service and said to her, "I'll treat you like my own daughter. You'll have the most beautiful wedding that you could ever dream of having." Not only did she not fulfill her obligations, she was unreachable for my daughter's wedding after she received the first deposit check and the contract was signed. To me, she was just a big phony and we were embarassed to even admit that the wedding took place there. Only because we had such good friends and understanding relatives, did they know that the way the wedding turned out at the Towne House was definitely UNLIKE any other special affair we had ever had.
WE WILL DEFINITELY ENJOY SHOPPING AT THE NEW LOWES STORE. Three Boo's to RHONA. What comes around goes around!
