I haven't gotten a response yet, I mailed it on Tuesday. I also wrote an email to the NYS Parks, Recreation and historic Preservation in Waterford. She told me the following:
"The Woolworth Estate was listed in the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 1979. A copy of the nomination text should be on our website (www.nysparks.com/shpo) and would contain the information that our office has about the property. The nomination can be accessed via the Online Resources link that takes you to one of three programs--you want Document Imaging. When you get to the search page, type in 90NR01705 (our catalog number for the listing).
Glen Cove is a Certified Local Government, part of a federal historic preservation program, and your concerns should start with the city."
She gave me contact info to the chair of GC's Preservation Board, so my next step is to write him.
I think this is going to be tough since the estate is privately owned, but let's see what this next contact says. I wish more people were passionate about this!! I will let you know what they say!

Yes, Monica Randall is the one who helped with that action....getting Winfeld listed.

Well, I don't think you are going to get anywhere.....THE TRUTH IS...that if anyone really wanted to do something.....NASSAU GOVERNMENT doesn't care.

I think that's the bottom line....until WE get some kind of support (NOT FINANCIAL)....I don't see what you can do.

What are these organizations doing to help?

1) NASSAU CONSERVANCY First and Foremost

2) Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities

3) Cedar Swamp Historical Society

4) Friends for Long Island Heritage

5) Nassau County Historical Society

6) Oyster Bay Historical Society

7) Roslyn Landmark Society

8) North Shore Preservation Society

9) North Shore Historical Museum

10)North Shore Land Alliance

11)North Shore Heritage Management Area Plan

12)Nassau Land Trust

13)Sustainable Long Island

JUST WONDERING.....

I would think that if ALL THESE GUYS got together..........they should be able to do something..........Obviously NO ONE wants or cares..........

I mean, what am I supposed to believe?

It's all politics crap.......you know what they can do with the politics..........

They should have bus tours to many of these grand Gold Coast estates with a knowledable tour guide. They would be very interesting. People would pay and come from all over the world to see the exceptional craftmenship and rich history of Long Island. Some of the proceeds would help with the upkeep such as the Woolworth estate.
No one has any power to do this.....

Our LOCAL government doesn't "seem" interested.
