Here are some good places to eat good country
cooking that are relatively inexpensive.

Section House Cafe':(Section House Road off of
Springs Road...2 miles.
For about $7.00 you can get a meat, two vegetables
and a roll. Your drink is included. The food is always good and hot. The waitresses are very nice.

Mammy's Kitchen past the Hwy 321 overhead bridge going from Hickory toward Lenoir, on the right as
you start up the hill.
For $6.00 you get a meat, 3 vegetables, 2 rolls
and excellent sweet iced tea with refills. The portions are very good. The fried chicken breast
is huge and some of the best. They have lots of
other specials.
The waitresses are nice here, too.

Pleasers on hwy 127,(second street NW, in Viewmont
is good. Exceptionally clean with good food.
Their combos are reasonable. French dip, chicken
cordon bleu, chicken salad, etc.
I didn't care for the Buffalo chicken or the chile,
but everything else was good.

Mom's , on Hwy 321 toward Lenoir has good vegetables
, but their meat selections are mostly out of a can.
If you like vegetables you might like Mom's.
Most of the waitresses are friendly.

Granny's , in Viewmont, across from Dante's is
pretty good. Prices are a little high for what
you get, but it's worth a try.

Crossroads Grill, toward Taylorsville, via
Hwy 127 has good sandwiches. Things like country
ham with lettuce and tomato on a bun is excellent.
Go N on 127. Turn right at the light at the top
of the hill, past the Lake Hickory bridge.
Go 5 miles. It's on the left.
Never had a bad meal there.
Waitresses are good.

Dante's Pizza in Viewmont has great food.
Never had a better pizza. They don't skimp on
the toppings. If you have an Attraction's Book
coupon, you can get a free 10" pizza when you
buy a large one. Nice place.

Tripps is one of the best. It's a little
pricey, but we've always had great meals there.

We simply love Texas Roadhouse, but the noise there
is comparable standing behind a commercial jet taking
off.(Well, not quite, but it ruins the meal for us.)
We don't go there for that reason.
They need a QUIET Texas Roadhouse #2 for those
who like to hear the person's conversation sitting
next to them.

Places we miss:
Ragazzi's
Steak and Ale
Garden Cafe
The Iron Gate (ages ago)

Places we avoid because they're so nasty, or
the food is terrible.
Tia's
The Snack Bar
Most of the other bad ones are out of business.
