Anyone with information on this man care to share? Is he a creep or innocent accused?
The newspapers aren't reporting these crimes or court dates but we can still discuss them here

Phillip Lail is a registered sex offender...He should be locked up and the key should be destroyed.. Not long ago he was found on a company pc after hours looking at kiddy porn.

And I amo not playing devil's advocate, but the reason the media does not get involved is to cover their own a$$e$ in case the accused are acquitted or there is not enough evidence to prosecute. Perhaps you should let the judge and jury decide who is guilty and innocent. Remember that the presumption is innonce until guilt is proven.

Actually, written offense is called libel, not slander. Perhaps you should verify your "legal vocabulary" before you log on as "webmaster" and post something like that. And, BTW - you have to be able to PROVE that damages happened as a result of LIBEL or slander.

Oh yes, and 1 more thing - if something said (libel) is factual, it cannot be deemed libel... so if those names were ACCUSED of anything, it cannot be deemed libel. If that were the case, newspapers would be liable for libel when they printed the names appearing in court. Nice try (not so) wise guy!

Well perhaps he is innocent. I'm not advocating the accusations, but remember that you shouldn't assume the accusations are not false. Wait until he's convicted then start the slander.

Most sex offenders get to PLEAD DOWN and get Probation only. If you are a well-liked, well known, white male of substance, the media will type your image as 'really just a nice guy gone wrong' -- and if you are a DUKE Health Official who adopted a 5 yr old boy to rape and molest on the internet the offer the child to other predators, you will be allowed to go to court out of State (to save Duke's Image of course).. {RIP Shaniya Davis -- forgive us for failing to protect you.)

The names are available in public court documents online. There is no law at all against noting who is going to court on what charges and I don't believe for a minute TOPIX would refuse to let such posts stand.

I have a problem with the local newspapers not covering the trials or making sure we all know who has been convicted of these crimes. Is it right to put their names and faces on the front of the paper? Maybe when they are simply accused, but if convicted, NO!

In Florida, a local paper runs the names and photos a few times a year. Helps educate people to the dangers around them, may make the guilty uncomfortable but that's a small price to pay if it saves a child from bveing raped, a woman from being abducted. It may also make others think twice about misbehaving if they understand it won't be a private matter but a very public one they will have to deal with for a long time in the future.

The papers won't so it but the citizens can use the internet to get it done. Why not here if it is done legally using public information. No lies. No accusations. Just facts that might help many stay a bit safer.

If true, why shouldn't it be made public? Those people around that situation should find a forum to tell their stories, out the truth and stop a biased law enforcement system from going easy on those with more money or education or whatever it took. If it takes a village to raise a child, we are all failing because we are minding our own business or keeping our heads in the sand or trying to be politically correct or just don't care. But there should be a place for caring people to make changes. If anyone knows where that place is i hope they will post the link so we all can see.
