Does anyone know what happened to Pastor Treadway at SRBC? He passed away and I am in shock. Thanks for any info. And I am praying for the family.

We were told at our church yesterday morning that he took his own life. Our pastor broke down, it was so very sad. Pray for the family and the church.

27. September 2009 by Norman Jameson, BR Editor David Treadway, pastor of the fast growing Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory, was found dead in his car Sunday morning by his wife as she was leaving to go to church.
Although Hickory police are investigating, a note Treadway left indicates he died by his own hand. Several months ago Treadway, pastor at Sandy Ridge about five years, told the congregation he was under doctor’s care for depression. An early statement Sunday from church leadership said their pastor had “succumbed to the disease of depression.” Treadway was chairman of the Baptist State Convention Board of Directors Business Services Committee. Catawba Valley Baptist Association Director of Missions Duane Kuykendall met Sunday night with church leadership. He said the 895-member church has undergone “significant growth” during Treadway’s tenure. Treadway and his wife, Melissa, have two children, Lindsey and Landon. A post on the church website Sunday night by a staff pastor, Rodney Poe, asked prayers for the church family and indicated that funeral information will be posted when it becomes available. |

Pastor David suffered for years from Depression The church knew about this since he came there 5 years ago. Please continue to pray for SRBC and especially lift up his wife and two children. He was a great Man of God, who loved the Lord and he was a great leader and Sandy Ridge will continue to grow and build God's Kingdom by using the tools that God equipped them with, just like David taught them to do!

A majority of churches expect too much of their pastors. As a pastor's wife, I know first hand how impossible it is to meet everyone's expectations and please everyone day in, day out, month in, month out, on and on for years. The pastor gets blamed for everything that goes wrong. The Sunday morning sermon is fodder for Sunday lunch criticism. People who don't even do daily devotionals expect him to "feed them" their entire spiritual diet and are furious as little children when they don't "get fed." He must be above reproach (and his family, I might add), affable, outgoing,Billy Graham in the pulpit, a Bible scholar, an excellent administrator, an effective leader, an on-fire evangelist, a prompt and able visitor to the sick, a counselor always available, who changes lives, a fund raiser, a prayer warrior, a "David's heart type" worshipper, a hard worker who goes the extra mile etc. And he is never EVER allowed to fail, disappoint, or confide in anyone. I think this present generation is on the right track when they value "authenticity" above plasticism. Isn't it about time we allowed our pastors and their families to be human with all the frailties common to that condition? What about extending a little grace?

holedigger- You sound like a real trash bag, get yourself some help!!!

Holedigger, Have you ever heard the quote,Let those who have no sins cast the first stone? Pastors and their families are human just like the rest of us and have the same problems as we do. The only problem is that they are under a spotlight and are open to constant criticism from people like you who in your case probably don't even attend church. Your post is nothing more than a rumor and if it was true is not anyones business other than that of the family. This family has enough to deal with as it is now without having to deal with this nonsense that you are trying to get started. You sir, need to exert the effort that you are using in trying to bring this family down and use it in trying to find your own salvation. |

i just repeated what one of his church members told me! your casting stones- i throw boulders!

Mrs. Lina Young, I totally agree with you!! I want to stand in front of our congregation and state, "If people like the ones in here would go on & not complain to our pastors about the small, stupid things in life, then maybe there wouldn't be so much stress on them" People complained over the dumbest things possible, like David not wearing a shirt,(while working in his private yard) who's business is it anyhow.
As for "holedigger" you need to dig your own hole. If someone from our church told you this "rumor", that is all that it is is a "rumor". David always stood in front of our church and stated that people should keep their thoughts to themselves and if something is bothering you and you don't know the truth, GO TO THE SOURCE!!!! Get rid of your ingnorance "holedigger" !!!! |

I was not being two-faced. I am the same when I am in the building of the church as I am outside the church. Even Jesus himself went to those who did wrong and told them of their wrong doings, That is one reason you should go straight to the source.
You can "BELIEVE" in God, but not be a Christian. Even Satan believed in God, but that does not mean that you have God in your heart and you live your life for him. Just because I spoke my mind does not mean that I am a bad person or straying away from my christianity. The bible says, "for ALL have sined and fall short of the the glory of God". No one on this earth is perfect. |

Scared of going to hell, YES--Of you, NO. |
