What is appropriate behavior?

The more I watch this forum be denigrated by people who are supposedly adults, I wonder if they know how to behave in an appropriate manner.
I believe just about everyone has heard of the "Golden Rule" at one time or another in their life. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I like to take the rule and modify it so that it has a little better bite to it.
Think of the person you love and respect the most, or maybe instead of a person it is an animal, your pet. Maybe it is an object like your car, but in any case it is something you love, respect and cherish.
Now imagine if someone said or did something mean, behaving in a hateful manner to whomever or whatever that favorite person/pet/thing was. It would hurt you. It probably would cause you to get angry. This is the reason I modified the Golden Rule in this manner.
Mom's Golden Rule:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto the person, animal or thing you love, respect and cherish the most."
If and when you behave in that manner toward everyone and everything, you will have achieved what is considered appropriate behavior.

Do unto others as others would do unto you only do it first.

Would it be appropriate if I went to fart and a small pebble turd popped out into my drawers?

Probably so. It'd probably be the highlight of your life.
