Behrens buried the academics in TC in favor of creating his Special Education shrine. The retired old lady crew sucked all the funds up that should have been spent on quality teachers. Sounds very familar.. What has your BoE decided regarding the Charter School Amendment.. anything said regarding that here?? Our BOE has adopted a resolution opposing it and shuved that down everyoned throats.. Our New superiendent stinks as well. He has raised the millege rate up to where it was before homes lost their values and we are spending splost funds that we hope to collect in 2017.. how bout yall

We let teachers go who have years in the class room but keep such foolish programs such as "FAMILY CONNECTION"go full throttle because their "DADDY" is on the board.This is stupidity!

Oh, the new Superintendent did fire the lazy old teachers who have been double dipping and doing nothing for the past ten years. Other than that not much is new.

P.S. And if the BOE/Supt. fails to provide the comic relief for some reason, we always got the sports writer at the Herald. This week he went into detail about how well the TC JV football team was prepared on defense last week. Well, I'll give him the doubt. They only got 30+ hung on them. I guess that is well prepared for TC!!

As I've said folks, TC school system is my weekly comic relief!! Been that way for years, nuthin's changed, never does!

As long as we keep electing inept board members that haven't a clue about how to improve a school system, we will continue getting the same results.

Until the BOE decides to hire a "proven" superintendent, one who has succeeded elsewhere, and gives him/her the power to make some drastic changes and hold people accountable, it ain't gonna happen.

We need to have more teachers and smaller class sizes.
Cut the admin help in the board office and hire teachers.
IT is the teachers that make a difference.

he board just has to pay for all of the admin help. We need more teachers and less admin. Come on Williams....get a spine. Cut some waste in the Board office and the high school admin office.

We need more effective teachers that engage the students. We want smaller class sizes. We want small groups to help struggling readers or struggling math students. Or maybe we should start a charter school here.

Or maybe they need to look at the 283 people on the Towns County Board of Education payroll and remove some of the people that aren't really necessary. Such as Counselors whose combined salaries are $182,338.24. Or the principals whose salaries equal $259,812.32! They have "vocationals"; whatever that is that receive a combined $198,109.02; library/media that get $148,142.06; school psychologist at $62,864.33; graduation specialist at $56,465.62. It goes on and on! Money is being spent on people that are not necessary for the children to get a good education. So many of the 283 people have family members on the payroll and nepotism is rampant! Keep the good teachers and cut out all this waste!
