Mica mine- they used it to make the resonate chips in old style radios- When digital stared comeing into the picture, and cheaper alternatives were available, he stopped digging.
Then the story about using it in Norton bomb sights (WW II) isn't true?

My Uncle Hal Herrin put in a large steel gate to keep people from driving to the top. I believe it's still intact. He did it when Young Harris college was doing a Peregrine Falcon transplant study on the top of the Bell.
Last fall, there was a TV crew from Atlanta up there filming the base jumpers, or whatever they're called. And every once in a while, I see 'em comin' down toward the field near the B&B. They're getting up to the top somehow.

when i was there i rode up to where they got a gate across the road. i was in the mustang so i turned around. next time i go up i'll have me onea them rock crawlers from moab.
the gate looked something like the ones that walter nix had built to lock the drive around the school.
well he was wrong about that. the kids had something to say about that, lol.
anyway his gates got gone.
doing great just had two weeks of chariot racing.
boy the crowd was really short this year. the teams from every where was there but their fans stayed back home.
they had couple wrecks. had to put one down, busted his shoulder, the team dumped the driver in the starting box, runaway team out riders could not catch them, crash into another team that just won the last race, they were crossing the track to the winners circle.

i do sunglass shows at the chariot races, an the quarter horse races in elko nv.
i kinda love them ole horeses.
later cuz.

Are you available to discuss this history in greater detail?
This could have effect the future of the place.
Please respond.
