Brass Town Valley Resort is open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They have a wonderful buffet and the resort is beautifully decorated.

so sad for people that have to be away from their family at work on Christmas day for a non-necessity job. i'd hate to think someone was away from their family b/c we couldnt survive one meal at home. i understand emergency workers having to be at work but these others? its just sad that making money is more important to some business than letting their employees spend Christmas day with their families.

Brass Town Valley Resort is a resort, so they have to be open on Christmas. I hate the fact that people don't get to be with their families on Christmas either but in this economy it is good to support them if we can.

Ask the staff at the resort and they will tell you they would rather work and make the extra money. Resorts need rooms cleaned, food cooked, laundry, dishes washed, and maintenance.
Not ALL people are Christians and celebrate Christmas.

Brasstown Valley has an amazing Christmas Dinner. We have gone every year for about 10 years now and plan on going again this year. Hope to see ya there.

The food is wonderful. I just have a problem with paying that big price and not having leftovers. A good thing about cooking at home is you have left overs to enjoy for a couple of days.

You'll be glad to know I saw a sign that said "Open for Christmas" at the Huddle House. Alas, it is a perfect world after all.

If you show up at the Hiawassee River Trout Lodge Christmas Day, you can eat a good meal, serve others, and share in the real meaning of Christmas as we carry plates to anyone who can use one. :) Hope to see you there. :)

Yes I was so lucky to be cleaning rooms and away from my family today.

I am thankful to have a job so I went to work. But given the choice I would rather have been with my loved ones enjoying this special day than making extra money.

I agree with Working Mom.

The thing that causes me to not want to go out for Thanksgiving or Christmas, is that some poor sap is probably having to work instead of spending it with their own family.

I remember when you would be hard pressed to find any restaurant open on those days.

Now that more people find it acceptable to go out, more people are pressured to work on those days to fulfill this new "need".

I'm sure there are restaurant workers who don't mind being there because they don't have family, but there are many who would have preferred to celebrate at home with their own loved ones.

I used to work in a restaurant and we had to make the choice to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas. We could not have both off.
