Is It So Hard

I have finally given up on shopping at Ingles. I figured giving them my business quietly should be a good experience. Until I check out. I don't know why they have so much attitude. Not all the time but I see no smiles and they are curt with people in other lines. I put my ATM code in and it didn't take. She told me to get another card. I tried it again and it didn't work. She got pissy with me when I insisted the card was fine. She gets on the blow horn and over the PA system calls for a manager and states "We have a rejected card" everyone takes a look at me like I am some kind of degenerate. The manager comes over after hearing her asks me for another card. I stated again the card was fine. I ran it through and the third time it worked. The manager stated they have been having some problems with the system. Good opportunity to make a statement but when you have bested a fool you have gained nothing. I go to Dills now and refuse to step into Ingles. I view them as the evil empire. Dills sets a standard of kindness and they give a kind experience. I just want to quietly shop without the drama. Is it so hard to be nice. I dislike unsolicited bad behavior. Ingles you have lost one client. Yes, it's my choice. Steven

Not the check-out girls fault. Apparently the manager needs to be replaced because he obviously doesn't know how to train his staff.

Lazy Dog giving advice on how to run a business, what a joke! This from the most ignorant bigot posting on Topix. Whats Next the Rev. Lazy Dog gives a sermon on how to treat your fellow man? He is the poster child for bigoted hate, bet his parents were proud!

I have had only one minor complaint about one of the cashiers. Doug, the manager, was very concerned when I talked to him.
The other day a lad was in the self check out line and ended up .26 cents short, one of the cashiers took her own money and paid his shortage.
I like Ingles and the folks who work there.
I would have been upset if a pa had been made as in the first article.

If you feel you have a valid complaint, call the home office of Ingles and file your complaint. Like with every business, some are really good and some just don't want to be there. They are the ones who should not be there.

This was not my first experience. I'm just not going to shop at what I now call the evil empire. Dill's is fine. They have better meat and better prices anyway.

Well, I love Ingles and the kids and older folks who check out. Yes, I have had the random teen newby thinking more about flirting with the bagger boy than being cordial to me...but hey..she's a teenager on her first job. There are check-out folks at Ingles I consider casual friends. We chat, swap news. No, not all of them are perfect, but they're mostly just great.

My problem is with the system. I am in there almost every day. I write checks. Occasionally my check will throw up some kind of code because I've written so many in a short space of time. The manager is called, etc etc etc. And yes, it annoys me and I think people believe I'm some sort of crook. But you know, it's a corporate system annoying me-not the people following some rules.

Overall, I say hurrah for Ingles. Now boys....give me some of those prices like I see at Krogers down in Duluth!

One down on 985 I stop in everytime I go by. I don't think I have ever been in there when I didn't see Towns, Union or Rabun plates in the parking lot. They have a great store. The new Ingles in Hayesville is a lot better than Hiawassee .

publix is very inferior compared to ingles. and more expensive if that is possible. give me aldi and see how long any of these stores last. 1.99 for milk 79 for eggs, heck the other day i bought a good sized watermelon 1.29, corn is 25 cents an ear. can't imagine a welcome for a florida grocery chain in a we hate floridians county. if the checkout girls don't treat you right, maybe it is because they spent time in the towns county school system, didn't say they graduated, just there long enough to learn to repeat how they were treated

We go to the one on exit 20 down I-575 when down that way. We also like the new store in Hayesville. They have a lot of kids working there (Hayesville High) and they are really friendly kids.

Inferior to Ingles? What way is that possible? Don't care about a little more expensive, if they are. They have everything!!!

Nothing comes close to Wegman's, but we don't have them down south. I love Whole Foods, but they're too expensive. If I had a huge budget and could spend all I wanted, I'd go to Whole Foods.

I have also seen the Ingles cashiers be treated horribly by really rude, mean customers. This is especially true when being asked to provide an ID for purchases of alcohol. It's not their fault-it's now the state law!

My car would not start the other day when I was at Ingles with my 7 month old and the manager was very nice and used his own truck to jump start my car. Sometimes the teen girls can be a little rude but the one manager is always very friendly and polite.
